We decided to stay at this "hotel pyramid" because it was different from the traditional building type hotels. And we we were not disappointed. It was the novelty of staying in such a designed hotel. As it is the LUXOR is close to the "newer" Las Vegas strip. But because of it's location [along with Mandalay Bay] it is a walk to get to the "heart" of the strip as it is the second to last hotel. There is a tram [elevated train] but the people who planned it did not plan it very well. It only stops at the Excalibur [hotel next door] and from there you have to walk up the strip. Within the hotel itself the usual Las Vegas casinos and food courts. At the time of our stay the shows were Criss Angel and "Carrot Top". Not really shows for family with children. The MORE buffet was impressive and good choices for continental foods. Unlike the other buffets offered around the strip MORE had a beverage station loaded for coffee, juice and soft drinks. Most of the other buffets serve you beverages. The swimming pools were nothing special but nicely laid out for those who want to do laps or just to "soak". There are lifeguards stationed around the pool to assist in times of trouble. As for the rooms, because of the hotel design the elevators move diagonally between floors. So you need to watch yourself when you stand as you rock sideways instead of up and down. The room we stayed in were clean and nicely laid out double queen beds. The unique problem with staying in the LUXOR is because the interior is so spacious up to the pinnacle smoke from the floor floats up to the higher levels. So even if you requested a non-smoking room you would still smell cigarette smoke in the rooms. hint: ALWAYS keep the air-conditioning running as this will help "clear" the air during your whole stay there. May be wasteful but breathing comfortably and a good sleep is paramount for me. A note: Luxor is not only the pyramid. There are also two tower suites. Be forewarned! I don't know if it is because of the economy or because "that's how it is" but you will get charged for nearly everything you request. Need a refrigerator? An extra crib or cot? Room service? You will be charged. AND on top of that you will be charged "Service Fees" PER PERSON! example: So if you just wanted, say breakfast for one person. And there are 4 in the room you will be charged a service fee FOR EACH PERSON REGARDLESS! so your $20 brekkie is $cost + $x.xx (x4) = EXPENSIVE! and TIPS are not included. So overall it was a nice stay. Just be careful of the charges and there will not be any rude surprises on you bill.

I stayed in the West Towers and I would say this hotel is due for an up date or remodel. I did not have any contact with the hotel staff except for check in/out. Nothing special to say about the staff in and out checks.
