I always wanted to stay in the pyramid so we did. What a mistake! I didn't think the Luxor was that old of a hotel, but it sure seemed like it inside. It was somewhat dirty, extremely smokey (compared to better hotels like Aria, Wynn, etc.) The hotels hallways on every floor are open to the casino floor below so you can look down from whatever floor you are staying on. Imagine all of the cigarette smoke from the casino floor that lingers inside, floating to the top and into each hotel room on every floor. It was absolutely disgusting. I felt like I was trying to sleep inside an ash tray.

Fine for the price, no frills, staff responsive to problems.

A co-worker and I stayed at the Luxor for a professional conference last week. We got in late, checked into our room in the pyramid and immediately noticed a strong ammonia smell. We normally could've shrugged it off, but we were in town for an entire week so wanted our room to be at least pleasant. We called the front desk to ask if we could be switched, but they said that they were booked up with the convention (understandable), and to call in the morning after checkout to see if another room was available. They offered to sanitize the room in the interim. We declined and went to bed. We were awakened at about 8 AM with loud construction sounds in the adjacent room. After a couple of hours, we called the front desk again and asked if another room might be available vis-a-vis our previous query. The gentleman at the front desk was already aware of our previous request and offered to upgrade us to a different room immediately. Our new room on the east tower was better and our trip was problem-free from then on. I will say that while our hotel was connected to the hotel that our conference was in (MGM Grand), it is quite far from the strip itself and a bit of a trek.

The resort fee is for cable and computer. No wifi in room only hard wire to attach to laptop. My cable is not irking o I called for it to be fixed. Close to food court in Excalibur. I lie the shows in Luxor.

The architecture of the building is cool- its a giant black pyramid! The elevators feel interesting, as they move diagonally up and down (too bad there aren't windows in them to enjoy the trips more). These elevators are very shaky, dirty, and seem generally worn down- they could definitely use some work. Also, the railing on the top floors is around waist high! You could easily do a drunk stumble down the hall, trip, and plummet to your doom, after which I'm sure you will promptly be mummified and displayed by the Luxor Egyptian staff. No coffee in the room is another downfall- especially after a night on the strip- the first thing you need is that brew in your room while still wearing your p.j.'s...had to venture downstairs to the Starbucks...Other than that, it was an enjoyable stay.

I totally felt at home at the hotel and would totally recommend it to anybody. Its in the middle of the strip, nice parking area, clean rooms and a very friendly staff. What i was not too impressed by was the resort fees. They charge you extra for newspapers, internet, gym and room service. None of which i had any interest in using but they still charge you all the same.
