First day there, I discovered that the sink would not drain. I called for maintenance, and they came relatively soon and fixed the problem, but left a mess. The guy said that maid service would take care of it. I went to the fitness room to work out for more than an hour, and upon my return, discovered that nothing had been cleaned. I really wanted water, but the only glass was covered with crud from the drain. I called again, and maid service did come to clean. A couple of days later, I wanted to rest in the afternoon and went to my room. It was 2:30pm and maid service had not yet been performed. I didn't want to lie down and fall asleep if they were going to be coming any time soon, so again I called to get them to the room ASAP. The bed was not too firm (as I happen to like firmness) and was uncomfortable as far as I was concerned. Internet (wired; no wireless available) is "free" with the mandatory $18 per day "Resort Fee."

I arrived at the Luxor and was able to check in within 10 minutes in a very friendly, professional manner. The room (one of their Pyramid rooms) was spacious and clean. In fact, the entire hotel (including public restrooms) was very clean. The room included a radio alarm clock, ironing board & iron in the theme-decorated armoire, a hair dryer and complimentary magazines about Vegas. I was given coupons for 2 free drinks per night of stay and a coupon booklet that saved me a lot in the gift shops, eateries and other stands within the hotel (didn't use the show coupons, but they would've saved me a lot as well). One thing that really impressed me was when I called the hotel a few days before my trip to just confirm that my reservation went through was that the rep I spoke to was so helpful. I asked her if the hotel had a shop where I could buy mouthwash and such (so as not to have to go through the hassle at the airport of carrying on such things), and she said yes but also informed me that there was a Rite-Aid store within walking distance that was much cheaper. I admire that honesty. Checking out was easily done in seconds through the TV. One of the booklet coupons was for an extra shot in your "slushie" alcoholic drink at the Evening Call stand just off the lobby...and they kept giving me back the coupon so I could use it again! The "More" buffet was always excellent with a huge variety of food and a very short wait (just avoid the tinny tasting orange juice). The bed and pillows gave me the best sleep I've had in a couple of decades! All in all, it was a very positive experience! If I ever go to Vegas again, I'd be apt to choose Luxor again. Some negatives... The walk from the elevators to the room was way too long (felt like 1/2 mile walk). They don't warn you that the elevator moves diagonally (due to the pyramid shape of the hotel), which was quite the shock the first time. I was on the 4th floor, and you could faintly hear the thumping of the music from the bars in your room. The toilet in my room was way too low (height-wise). Sounds like a weird complaint, but at 5'11" it was awkward for me. It was impossible to close the drapes all the way so as to block the early morning sun from shining in...could not close them entirely, at least a 5 inch gap where the sun came up and shined right into the bed. The internet connection was cable, not Wifi...and the speed left a lot to be desired. Reminded me of late 1990s AOL dialup. The fast food court was nothing resembling fast. Ordered chicken tenders at the chicken tenders stand and had to wait over 15 minutes for my order...seriously?!?!?!? It's a chicken tenders stand...that's what they sell! To not have them ready all the time is ridiculous! Only on one morning (I stayed 5 nights) the maid service showed up at 9:15am and knocked very lightly on my door. I thought it was someone knocking on a neighboring door. 5 seconds later the maid walks in while I'm in my underwear just after showering. She apologizes and walks out, closing the door with the latch thingy not exactly re-locking the door. 15 seconds later she comes back in, my pants hardly above my ankles. Checkout time is 11am. I was shocked that the maid service would show up before then, especially being Vegas when people are normally up late at night. After getting home I emailed the hotel complaining about this. They quickly apologized about this and said they would look into the maid service timing and such.

We got the hotel in an air/ hotel package and on the advice of other reviewers asked for an upgrade from the pyramid to the towers. For $20/night more we got a very plush room with the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever slept on. Definitely worth it! Joined the M Club and got $140 off our bill after gambling there for 4 days

  • Friendly check in.

The fact that we were on the 16th floor and had to walk so far from the elevator to our room was a negative.
