Over all Experience was Excellent
07/24/2012Room was clean and roomy. we stayed in the basic room, so could use a few updates and features, like a small refrigerator would have been nice.

The interior of the hotel was gorgeous. Very detailed architecture, beautiful decor, and very well kept to its theme. You will find yourself taking pictures at every turn. Overall, the hotel has so much to see and do and its partnership with the Excalibur hotel is a definite bonus, at a great value. I found that the elevators were a bit out of the way and a hassle (I stayed in the pyramid, guests staying at the towers could differ in opinion). We had a large suite, I for one do not recommend spending the extra money for this. The room was a large with improper usage of the space. We had a king size bed, but you could fit in that room another queen size bed, a queen size bed in the living area and a full size bed in the bathroom, with out ever taking any of the other furniture out of the room and still walk around VERY comfortably. Also, we paid for a room with strip view. This was also not worth it as it's sister hotel pretty much blocks the view of the strip. As for the lighting, in the hotel itself, very dim, in the rims equally dim. My wife calls it mode lighting, I call it bad lighting or at least the bathroom could have had better lighting. The fact that there was only one switch (technically two switches, one in one room, one in the other) that turned on two very dim lights. If you want more lighting, all you had were three lamps...or open the shades (that also did allow enough lighting into the room). As the for the hotel being dated, you can clearly see that the rooms and the hotel itself is a bit out of date (not like Riveria hotel) but in comparison to say the newer hotels. Does this make or break it? No, its a gorgeous hotel and the rooms are beautiful. You can really tell where the hotel is outdated is in the elevators. The staff are amazing!! I really can't go any further than this, but everyone was so accommodating and sweet. I called guest services to order some flowers for my wife and they flat out told me how expensive it would be and where I can get it for cheaper...how awesome is that?? I recommend this hotel if you can get it for a good value!

We thought we'd try the Luxor for our first trip to Las Vegas. That, and the fact that the rooms were relatively inexpensive. However, even though the staff were great and the prices good the hotel itself is getting a little threadbare in the rooms and the Luxor Cafe where the booth sets are worn and in some cases dirty. We did one meal at Rice, and were not impressed. Menu overpriced, food bland. Time Share reps retail sales person with were "in your face" approach to selling their products. They even tried to pit my wife and me against each other.
