The staff was very friendly, welcoming and knowledgable. Upon check in the clerk gave me warm choclate chip cookies. The room was very clean as well as the bathroom. I loved the decor in both as well. There was alot of bath products and the coffee was wonderful. The bed was very comfortable and I loved all the pillows. I would stay again.

We did not like our room. We requested to be moved since this hotel is big but per their front desk personel since we booked our room on-line they don't give good rooms instead they gave us a disabled room on the 2nd floor. The walls were so thin you could hear all the noises (bathroom, train people talking). The bathroom sink did not drain properly. We will never stay in this hotel again and I kind of re-think the on-line booking - it seems that if you booked on line you don't get treated the same as compared to booking directly to the hotel. I check later the rates and there was just maybe a $* dollar difference. For the price I paid for the accommodation we got was not acceptable.
Recently remodeled. Easy check-in. NIce rooms.02/23/2011

Perfect location in downtown Modesto. The hotel is close (walking distance) to all the downtown bars, restaurants, movie theaters, clubs, and the Gallo Performing Arts center. The hotel appears to be recently remodeled. Room was modern, clean, and quiet - remarkable since my wife and I stayed there on New Year's Eve. Parking garage across the street with a pedestrian skybridge to hotel. Great experience. No problems. Probably the best place to stay in Modesto - especially to take in the nightlife if you don't want to worry about driving. Will stay there again.

I have stayed at several Doubletree Hotels for business, Modesto's Doubletree is average or better. My wife & I live in Modesto and spent our Wedding night and 2 anniversaries in this hotel. Brenden Theater is across the street and in front of the Brenden is an excellent restaraunt named Fuzios with excellent Italian dishes and frieindly waiters. Pricing is about comparable to Olive Garden or less. Evenings in Modesto most of the year are very nice to sit out on their patio and enjoy dinner. For Breakfast, we like the restaraunt in the Hotel or room service. The atmosphere in the Hotel restaraunt was nice. For holiday overflow, we put some of the kids & grandkids so we usually book an additional room or two at the Doubletree. In total I have stayed or paid for 20 - 25 stays over the last 8 years, we have been happy with all stays and it is everyone's perferred choice. Skewers is also a nice restaraunt a couple blocks away, though higher price. Kabobs are great. There are other nice established restaraunts in the downtown area. Over the last 20 years, Modesto has done extensive re-development of the downtown area(facing front of the Hotel). Given a choice I would request a room facing the front of the Hotel as that is the direction re-development has occurred. The back side (pool side) os ok, but you will see some lumber yards, light industrial, recycling, and auto repair businesses. You will be fine walking around the downtown area. Also check out the State Theater (historic) or the new Gallo Performing Arts center for some top knotch entertainment. Both are close and gems. McHenry Mansion and Museums are nice if you like historical stuff. Summer free concerts at Mancini Bowl. Excellent based on value.
