A coworker and I stayed at this hotel for a conference we attended. It was the perfect location, as it was across the street from our conference. Also, there were many ammenities nearby that we both enjoyed, even having different taste in foods. I would certainly recommend this hotel to a friend or coworker.

I chose the Beacon Hotel because I needed an inexpensive hotel room right away in order to make a meeting in DC the next day since my flight was canceled due to a snow storm that was scheduled to hit DC. To sum up my experience, you get what you paid for. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were hard and the sheets were torn. However for the price that I paid, especially for a DC hotel, I guess I couldn't ask for anything better. Other than that, the area was good and it was about 10 minutes away from my meeting location. Nonetheless, I wouldn't stay here again nor would I recommend anyone else to.

Upon arriving at the Beacon, I noticed that there was no conditioner or lotion in the bathroom. When I called the front desk, they did deliver a small bottle of lotion but I was informed that they do not give conditioner! I have very long, very thick hair that must be conditioned daily. However, I did get a new container of shoe polish every day. The front desk staff was very rude and not very helpful (often talking to friends on the phone rather than helping me). The room was very small. There was no continental breakfast available free of charge. I would have expected all of these things (conditioner, lotion, free breakfast) for the price I paid to stay at the Beacon. And, I paid a discounted price so I would have been more upset had I paid full price!

This was my second stay at the Beacon and I would still go back. The hotel is very quiet, the rooms are clean and spacious. The beds are sooo comfortable. The only con is the hotel is not close to the tourist areas (but that is also a good thing). Staff at front desk, bar and restuarant are a little snobby, but not enough to overshadow how comfortable and quiet the rooms are for guests. The food and drinks are okay if a little overpriced
