This hotel was an excellent choice for a week-end in the Gaslamp District.

We loved our stay at the Bristol! Our room had a beautiful view of the bay which made our accomodations even better. The Bristol was extremely convenient since everything you might possibly want to see and do in the Gaslamp District was within walking distance. We found the staff to be extremely helpful, courteous, and friendly. We will definitely be going back!

I was all set to give 4 stars overall -- the front desk was friendly & helpful; the hotel was cool looking; the room was nice, etc. There's complimentary wireless throughout the hotel and a public computer with printer in the lobby. Nice restaurant. Walkable area. My minor complaints were shabby fitness center, the loud sliding door for the bathroom, the poor lighting in the bathroom, and weak water pressure. The room was across the street from the Greyhound bus station, but we were on the 8th floor and just heard normal city street noise. Since I live in a downtown area, it wasn't anything I wasn't used to. Until Saturday night when a few rooms on the 8th floor were occupied by people attending a private party in the space on the 9th floor. They started early on my floor and were drinking, talking, laughing, and cussing loudly, and acting like the entire floor was their own party. When they finally moved upstairs, everything was fine until the music got louder just before midnight and woke me up. I ended up calling the front desk 4 times between 10 and midnight and while everyone was very apologetic, it never really solved the noise problem. The next morning there were food crumbs along the hallway and empty beer cans by the elevator. The manager gave us $* off the room, which was nice, but I still had a rough night of sleep in an expensive hotel promoting itself as classy and stylish. Hearing that someone had been evicted by the police wasn't the image I was looking for. There should be stricter party/event rules or more insulation between the 8th and 9th floor. Or keep the business guests away from the party-goers.
