Walking distance to all event locations including Ford Field and Comerica Park. Most friendly bellman. Hotel Van can take you to other sites if too lazy too walk. Next door to Greektown Casino which is a most popular place to go in Detroit. Greektown has great restaurants including Fishbones, adjacent to the Athenuem Hotel. Recently refurbished rooms are the largest in size than any hotel I have stayed in. I always stay at the Athenuem when I am downtown Detroit even if it is a few bucks more per night. It is worth it.

Loved this hotel for its classy, elegant atmosphere and luxurious suite. Location was perfect for our purpose---Comerica Park. Enjoyed our 2 night stay very much. The free hotel shuttle was an added bonus in addition to the ease and convenience of the People Mover.

The Atheneum is the best hotel value in Detroit. All the rooms are beautiful suites, some with open jacuzzi tubs. The location is great, right across from the Greektown casino, and in the middle of lots of restaurant choices.

Detroit is not known for such positives but other hotels should take a clue from the Atheneum. We stayed in March and everyone we met was a shining example of efficiency and kindness. Andre (doorman) knows everything and Isaiah is a barman with class and genuine friendliness, plus, he knows his wine! I would reccommend staying here if you care about a clean, spacious accomodation staffed with superb people from the janitor to the conciearge!

My husband and I booked the room for a quick getaway, first one in 7yrs, and loved the whole experience. The suite with king bed was very comfortable and the deep tub was even better. It was the perfect getaway and we can't wait to plan another one. The only negative thing was the loud music from the strip club around the corner.
