The resort far surpassed our expectitations. Our room was fantastic-sitting area with separate bedroom. Very comfortable bed. The grounds were beautiful. Just wish we were spending more time there so we could have taken advantage of all the amenities. The staff were quite friendly and very helpful with directions. We hope to return to the area to visit for a longer time.

We enjoyed our stay at the Pointe. It was very kid friendly! The pools were wonderful, the resturants were good, and the workout room was very useful. Our only downfall was the location. It was so far North from most activites.

My wife and I, along with our three kids, enjoyed our stay at Tapatio Cliffs. We had stayed at the Hilton's sister property, Squaw Peak, a few years earlier and found that they were both comfortable, friendly locations with plenty of activities for the kids. The kids liked Squaw Peak more, because it had a more extensive swimming pool (almost a mini water park, really). Both need a few updates, but are fine for the money if you don't pay full price. Tapatio Cliffs is like any resort ... there are no bargains on site when it comes to food, which can be frustrating with kids who are picky eaters and prone to leave a meal half-eaten. You just need to plan accordingly, stopping by any one of the nearby grocery stores. The setting is awesome if you like the backdrop of the American southwest.

We are HILTON VIP DIAMOND members, so wanted to choose a Hilton to get the points etc. We arrived on Friday and were able to do an early check in and went right to the pool. THE GOOD: This hotel had friendly staff that were helpful and warm/welcoming. The lady in the gift shop gave a great recommendation for authentic Mexican food. Thanks! The hotel is set amidst the cliffs hence the name, so you'll be walking uphill everywhere, which we liked. They do offer a complimentary shuttle around the resort, but we never saw anyone use it. I don't think this would be a very handicap friendly hotel. All rooms are suites w/1 bedroom or more and have balconies. This was a plus since we have two kids ages 2 & 6. It was nice to be able to put them to bed, and close the bedroom door so we could stay up. We had a wonderful dinner at their restaurant by the golf course, A Pointe in Thyme. Great value on the kids meals..only $6 for petite steak, salmon etc. Everything we ate was delicious. Love the bread. Friendly waiter and nice restaurant manager. We asked for a room near The Falls Water Pool area and were very close to it. The hotel has 2 nice size zero entry pools with built in benches inside, fountains, little grottoes and one super fast, tunnel waterslide (you have to ask them to turn it on sometimes). Our kids and us LOVED the pools and waterslide. We hung around the lower pool b/c it was quieter and offered more shade. We rented a cabana and enjoyed having friendly staff brings us drinks/food. Very relaxing and enjoyable except for the wkends. So we enjoyed ourselves until Sat. and Sun. THE BAD: Didn't know this, but the hotel offers $5.00 day pool passes to the local residents in Phoenix. So on the weekend the crowds at the pools were eclectic and quite honestly, we felt like we were on spring break w/rowdy college kids. Or at a cheap Las Vegas party hotel! It was a rough, rude, vulgar and bad language everywhere, bawdy, boisterous crowd. Not very family oriented on the weekend. In fact, a large group of what seemed like college age ppl were playing football in the pool. They were rough, hit my husband in the face w/the football almost hit my 2 year old. The person didn't even apologize for it. Not a classy crowd. Because of this we won't be back. Unfortunately, this really put a damper on what would have been a great stay. Because of this we won't be back and wouldn't recommend it to others unless you're going during the week only. Another BIG disappointment....we thought b/c of that episode we'd leave and go to the private pool right near our hotel room. Well, there were locals at that one too. There are several small, private pools around the hotel rooms that we thought only hotel stayers could go to. We were wrong and unhappily disappointed to meet more of that same rough, crowd at what we had hoped would be a peaceful escape. The hotel mgt. needs to eliminate the offer of day pool passes to locals and make the pools exclusively available to ppl staying at the hotel only. For what we payed we had hoped to enjoy the exclusivity. We tried to let mgt. know of our opinion, but played phone tag. The local couple we met told us they have been coming to the hotel pools for free for over a year. They said the staff just waves them in and doesn't charge them anymore. They also get free drinks which is a draw he said. Geesh! Another nuisance is it was hard to get a good nights sleep b/c every time the neighbors next to us flushed their toliet, or used the sink or shower, we could hear it loud and clear. Horribly loud! It's really a shame that what started out as a good retreat for us, ended in such disappointment. Especially at a Hilton.
