After price, we choose this hotel mainly for its location within the city of Chicago and we were not dissapointed. We arrived at the hotel many hours before the scheduled check in time and were not only warmly greeted by front desk personnel, we were upgraded to a king room and allowed to check in early. And yes, the free cookies are fabulous. The king room consisted of a bed, desk, reading chair, chest of drawers with TV on top and a bathroom. The room was an average size and provided ample room for two people to store their stuff for a week move around comfortably. The TV was an older one and the cable was a bit fuzzy at times so that was a dissapointment. The bed was one of the new very soft and cushy types, so if you like that type of bed you'll love this one. Aside from the great staff at the front desk, we were greatly helped by the concierge desk with everything from tour tickets, transportation information, Wrigley ticket information and general restaurant recommendations. The entire hotel staff is extremely knowledgable and friendly. The only issue we had was with our room not being cleaned/made up one day, but we got a very late start that day so it may have been our fault. Aside from that the room was neat and clean every day upon our return to the hotel. There is free wi-fi in the lobby, but not in the rooms themselves. There is also a free kiosk in the lobby for checking in to your flight and printing boarding passes. There is an Einstein Bagels on site as well as a full service restaurant. The hotel is a 10 minute walk to Navy Pier and only a few minute walk to the Magnificent Mile. Right across the street from the hotel is a docking station where you can rent bikes and tour the city-highly recommended! Within a few blocks of the hotel are a bunch of eateries and a great sports pub. Across the street from the hotel is a grocery store that sells beer, wine and liquor. The Loop stations are about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel and the entire city can be accessed from any of these train lines. The Chicago system is color coded and very easy to use. The Doubletree felt like a luxury hotel for a bargain price. The overall experience was fabulous and we would definitely stay there again.

02/07/2011Spent a cold weekend in january at the doubletree magnificent mile. the room and staff were outstanding. we will be staying here again when we visit next year.

Very nice hotel in good location. Very friendly and accomodating staff. (check in chocolate chip cookie is nice touch). Only dislike is the snack/drink inroom bar being outrageously priced and elctronically sensitive so if you pick anything up you automatically get charged for it. We picked up several things when first got in room just looking until we saw the warning and had to have the hotel take them off the bill. Otherwise very nice.

Just far enough off Michigan Avenue so you do not have all the traffic but close enough to enjoy. From the other direction the lakefront is a short walk. Good location. Pool is great for relaxing in the summer. Hotel overall was clean and the staff was pleasant. Will stay here again.
