Feel free to stop in and check out the Lobby, but be warned you will not be sleeping anywhere near it! They have a few buildings in the back that were poorly constructed in the 1970s. The first room's bathroom was covered in black mold, they moved us upstairs and the whole second floor was so stinky we asked again to move. We ended up in the third hotel that they had and it was clean and comfy ,but it was not historic! I love that old lobby ,but using it to attract people from out of town to stay in nasty out dated buildings is anything but honest. So unless you are sleeping in the train cars, that they do have...visit , do not stay!

The price for this hotel is a bit much considering the room that you get... I guess the cost is more so do to the historic factor and location of the hotel. The garden areas of the hotel are very beautiful and the pool the I liked most out of the 3 pools to choose from is the Waterfall/Lagoon pool with the hot tub in the middle. It is one of the best pools that I have ever been in.
not worth it !!!!!!!!!08/04/2011

Thinking that this was a nice hotel , my intentions were to stay 3 days. One day was all it took. This hotel needs alot of update. The beds were very uncomfortable, no refrigerators in rooms and the ice machines had no ice , sliding glass doors needed lubrication, I cannot think of anything good to say about the room. Day 2 , we checked out immediately and went to Sleep Inn off I 75 . Save your money!!

To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I wish I had read the reviews prior to our stay. The lobby and lobby restroom was dirty and smelled badly. There was an odor of sewage back up in the lobby. The room was musty smelling. The carpet was gross. The bathroom smelled like it hadn't been cleaned. There was a sticky brown substance dried that had run down the outside of the bathroom trash can. The towels were stiff and scratchy to the touch. The bed sheet were probably 150 count thread. The outside walkways were full of sticky spills that had dried. The walkway across from the rooms to the elevator was crumbly and again, dirty. The 2 elevators in our building did not work. I would only give this hotel a half star and that is because the staff was very helpful and friendly. This historic hotel has a lot of potential. I hope they get it cleaned up. I would NOT recommend it to anyone.

Our room was in hotel 2 at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. This particuliar building was under going renovation. Room was ok, bathroom tub needs to be upgraded. Elevator was out of order, so we had to carry our bags up the stairs. The Riverfest (9 day festival) was being held during our stay at the hotel and the hotel was charging patrons for the festival to park in the hotel parking lots. Needless to say, when we returned from a banquet, we had to park quite a distance from the hotel. I guess we were lucky to find a parking place. Overpriced for what we had to put up with.
