    My husband and I stayed at the Westgate Myrtle Beach location. We truly enjoyed our stay. When I read the negative reviews before choosing a hotel, I was discouraged and wondered if we'd find any suitable accommodations. We decided to give Westgate a chance and found the staff friendly, our room was clean and very nicely decorated. The hotel was great. Some people are soo picky and negative, chances are their homes aren't as nice and clean as they should be. I would highly recommend Westgate. Their facilities are as a general rule very good. You may find "a" staff person anywhere who may need a customer service class. However our experience with Westgate has been a very pleasant one.

    Front desk staff was very helpful, we had to find our own cart to bring in our luggage, moving through the Westgate other staff members had to be asked to clear a path. The view and the beach were very good, no privacy on the balconies, you could see into the rooms beside you. No ice machines or working drink machines on the 4th floor. The pool side bar was nice as was the food, the lazy river and the pool area was nice as well. The room was classified as a villa, save your money get a regular room, it was very cramped, no place to put your luggage except for the bed. Should not be rated a 4 star maybe 2. According to the staff we were in the nicer section.

    Overall, not the experience we expected. From the photos and the travelocity 4-star rating we expected a good hotel. Upon arrival the lobby was okay, but once in the hallway to the rooms we would not have been able to differentiate it from most Super 8 motels I have stayed. The room had a strange odor and on our last day we found a half-eaten box of chicken nuggets under the bed from the previous guests (we never ate chicken nuggets during our stay). Also, despite the renovated rooms they talk about, our sink was held up on one side by a painted 2x4. The toilet paper also has to sit on the sink because there is no holder. One of the towels hung for us was dingy, brown and not usable, and there was a strange brown crust on our replacement roll of toilet paper that made us hope we didn't have to use it. This place is largely a TIMESHARE so don't expect any royal treatment. If you are one of the "non-owners" you are a second class citizen. The hotel has chairs and umbrellas available for the beach which are ONLY for the timeshare owners, and the on-site parking is also for timeshare owners ONLY. It seemed like anytime we asked about a service the first question was "are you an owner?" In the end this place will give you a place to stay in central/south Myrtle, but don't expect much.
