This place really gave meaning to southern hospitality. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Everything was great. The room was surprisingly huge and cozy. MARTA is just one block away and sure beats driving around the city. I had a room on the 17th floor and had an amazing view. Starbucks is also in walking distance. Wish I could've stayed here longer! I would definitely stay here during my next visit.

We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate a graduation and Christmas for family who could not travel a few weeks later. We had one two-bed suite and two one-bed suites reserved but used the two-bed suite as our main room. It was plenty large enough for 7-8 people to hang around, open presents, etc. The rooms were large and well-appointed but showed age and wear in places. The lobby is amazing and the location is great. The staff was extremely courteous, helpful, and jolly at times. Our only complaint was with the slightly worn-down state of the rooms. All the rooms had a bit of wear to the walls, carpet, and furniture, but one had a broken lock ("fixed" three times by the staff) and a broken toilet that flushed all night. Another room's microwave only ran sporadically.

We got a two for one night rate through online travel, and we couln't find a better deal. We were a little skeptical because some bad reviews but we'll decided to check it out ourselves ...

True it's not new and may need some updates, but overall this is a great hotel. It's an antique and a place with history, so if you don't like old buildings don't stay there.

The rooms are huge. With a seperate living room area and kitchen. We had a non-smoking room and it was very clean.

The bed has a memory foam mattress and we had and awesome night sleep and didn't want to get up in the morning.

The pool is on the rooftop, and you'll get an amazing view of downtown Atlanta! No hot tub though ... that's missing ...

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The only bad thing we have to say is that we ordered roomservice since we couldn't get off that memory foam mattress and the food was uhmn ... pretty bad, but hey you're in Atlanta and there are plenty of great places to eat ...

This hotel had a really good location to things to do in Atlanta but it is in serious need of updating. The lobby was beautiful but didn't match what was in the rooms as far as looks. We changed rooms because the first rooms carpet was badly worn and the wallpaper was in need of repair. We wanted a better room for the money we were spending to stay there. Before we even got to the first room we encounted screaming children running down the hall and a man walking down the hall shirtless reading the newspaper. The second room was better. The staff was very friendly and accomodating when we requested to be moved to another room. Its $* to park your car per day even if you don't take your car out. Way too expensive seeing that you can park there for $* when going to an event at one of the local venues.

The hotel is conveniently situated near the North Ave. Transit station, across from the beautiful Fox Theatre and very close to many good restaurants. We did not rent a car and didn't miss it. One of the "tourist loop" buses went right by the hotel and took us to the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coke, the High Museum of Art and many other interesting spots in Atlanta. Our favorite restaurant was Mary Mac's, just 3 blocks from the hotel. Great "southern" comfort food. The only drawback to the hotel is that it has only 2 elevators for the guests. Granted, they were speedy most of the time but a bit of a wait at check out time. There is a lot of history in this hotel too. Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh stayed here when "Gone with the Wind" premiered in Atlanta.
