the room was a little run down. Not as up to date as I would have expected out of a Hyatt Regency. The room was clean and the staff was excellent though.

I was first given a small room. Way too small. I could almost touch both walls with outstretched arms. Went back to front desk and was politely offered a junior suite but in the un-renovated tower of the hotel. Awful! It reminded me of a clean and large but old Motel-6 room. Went back to front desk and was given a room I expected from a Hyatt. Wonder why I wasn't offered this in the first place. Nevertheless, for my troubles I was given a $* credit to any of their shops/restaurant. The whole staff was great and the eventual room was perfect. Dont settle for the bottom of the barrel rooms simply because you were smart enough to pay less. There is a small coffee shop in the lobby that also sold cereal, drinks, milk, sandwishes, ice-cream etc. Very affordable and convenient with excellent variety.

My husband and I have stayed at the Regency Hyatt in Chicago, downtown in August. I meant to write our comments regarding our stay the minute we returned home, but then I even contemplated if it is worth the effort. Needless to say we were very disappointed with our room. It was dark, murky, musty, and very outdated. Bathroom was really dirty, dark, and just old looking; it smelled strongly of mildew. There was hair stuck on the door, and literally dirt that we wiped it off ourselves, very disgusting. Bathroom floor was filthy as well, and to walk bare foot we had to lay towels down. We have stayed at many different hotels and this bathroom was just the worst I have ever been in. The Sheets felt gritty, and there was couple long dark hair right on the arrival. TV was outdated and not highdef as described. The room just looked completely different that what the hotel website pictured. I must say we will never stay at this hotel nor recommend it to our friends and family. On the lighter note, downtown Chicago outstanding, as always.

We had a great experience -- the hotel is close to attractions, southshore railroad, redline we were in for a Cubs game and walked to Navy Pier. The only thing that we would possibly write about was some of the 'routine' cleaning in the room. We found a used straw and hair pin on the carpet by one of the tables which was overlooked. However, the rest of the room was well kept, it was quite, and the bed was very comfortable. We would recommend staying here and would also book here again.
