The Westin was a nice place to stay. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and eager to please. The beach was beautiful and clean. The only downside was the screaming kids at the pool. I would've stayed at an adults only resport but I figured with school in session that we'd be safe...apparently not. Aside from that it was a wonderful trip.

We stayed at the Westin January 2nd - 7th after staying here about three months ago. The service was ok, it took about 30 minutes to check in which was annoying and the guy helping us disappeared for 10 minutes at a time. When exchanging money at the front desk, they didn't have enough change and still owe me money, but I'll never see that again. Also, the bellman staff are sort of rude and are more interested in selling you tickets to Coco Bongo than doing what you are tipping them for. Overall I wasn't very impressed this time around. Also, watch out for the hard sell on time-shares...starting with the concerige desk...if you never answer the phone in your room, you're safe.

Room furnishings are second rate, if that. Chest with drawers that did not fit and obviously very old. Reading lamps on tables below bed level so that it was impossible to read in bed unless lamp shades were removed and lamps placed on ledge. Didn't help much because only bulbs were 40 wattts. Small ants in bathroom even after attempt by hotel to eliminate. No info in room on how to access TV. Hotel faciliities and service otherwise good. Beach excellent.

My wife and I stayed at the Westin recently for 4 nights. We found the service very good and staff polite. We enjoyed our stay. This time of the year there are just the right amount of people. Never been to Cncun on spring break. I can imagine the crowd. We like tasting the local food so we sought the very local restairants whenever we wanted to eat out. We also upgraded to what they call the royal Beach Club where it includes free breakfast buffet, free happy hour (5-7pm), use of gym & spa services. The trip was very relaxing. We lounge on the beach early in the day and went to old downtown later. Found some very good local restaurants. Alos enjoyed their local beers.

The hotel location is perfect if you want to be away from the busy part of the hotel strip. It has a beautiful beach that's just a few yards from the hotel. The beach is shared mostly by Club Med members. I recommend talking to the concierge as soon as you get there. They will give you a map of the property and of Cancun. This is VERY helpful if you plan on leaving the property. Be prepared though for a sales pitch to visit the new Westin that has been built up the strip. They are trying to get people to purchase condos or a timeshare there. We went to Cenacolo (Italian) and Harry's (Surf and Turf) while we were there. They were both beautiful and had excellent service. Make sure to sit by the lagoon at Harry's. I highly recommend upgrading your room to the Royal Beach Club side if you can. You will have much better views and they serve a free breakfast and happy hour with free drinks. You also have access to their spa. Well worth the extra money. Even if you only get a 25 minute massage, do it. Due to the off season, it seemed the hotel was a little under staffed. You'll see 1 waiter or no hostess for their main restaurant. All together though, it was a great experience and I would absolutely go there again.
