The hotel is in a great location, just off of Under der Linden. It is about three blocks to the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, and the Tiergarten and is located right on Friederichstrasse, with a subway station close by and a short walk (8-10 blocks) to the Checkpoint Charlie museum. There are also some authentic German restaurants just around one corner and an Einstein Coffee (a German chain) right around the other. The hotel was used to film a scene from one of the Bourne movies, and has a sweeping staircase that joins the mezzanine and the main lobby. I loved it. Comfortable bed, clean room, professional and courteous staff, which made my first visit to Berlin really great. The only drawback was that my room fronted on Friederichstrasse and one morning there were some very loud drunken people outside my window at 5 a.m. Since the hotel can't control what happens on a public sidewalk, I can't hold that against them. Also, the room wasn't made up one day until around 4:00, but that was a minor inconvenience.

04/19/2012Very good hotel, very nice location, but the view from our room was not so good. staff needs just a bit more to be good enough for my expectations.

The hotel location is great...close to everything and easy to get around the city. The staff was extremely helpful especially when we had to stay longer than planned due to volcanic ash over Europe causing all air travel cancelled. We stayed two extra nights and the staff helped us contact train transporation getting us out of Berlin and continuing our travels.

This hotel has a great location on the Friedrichstrasse, close to the Brandenburg Gate and the Checkpoint Charlie where the former Berlin Wall was. We have stayed in a Deluxe room which has been refurbished recently, the overall quality is great. ImpressÃve is the staircase in the lobby, truly a Grand Hotel. Would stay here again.
