What can you say about an uber expensive hotel, in an uber expensive city with rooms smaller than my closet and yet they cannot be bothered to dust? Well, gross is one word that comes to mind. Gross and dirty. Take your money somewhere else because if you dare say anything negative about the "whatever, whenever" experience, they will question if you really stayed there. And don't bother trying to clean up for them because they will actually charge you for touching the mini-bar (when all you were trying to do was get the 1/2 inch thick dust sheet off the area). And do not bother to ask for assistance - ever, because they do not give it. They do not have enough staff to assist at the front desk. The lines were insane (and they do not have the standard SPG preferred guest line). The concierge virtually ignored people waiting for assistance... what hotel in NYC does not have the appropriate number of staff during the holidays. Don't think that you will get the adequate number of towels (even if you ask). Don't think that your keys will work. Don't try to link reservations with points and cash (that just confuses everything). I have stayed in several "W's" and I have stayed in other NYC hotels... this is not acceptable. Heck, I have stayed in better Best Westerns in the middle of nowhere that could show this place a thing or two. This hotel is horrible. Small dirty rooms. Rude staff. Horrible service. I will not be going back again, location be damned. You are better off in Times Square.

From check - in to check-out, great service and attention to detail. Room was immaculate and well-stocked -- plenty of towels, terry robes and spa quality toiletries. Lots of action in the lobby and lounge area, but peace and quiet in the guest room. For the business or leisure traveler, this is a great option.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed. The rooms were clean and well-appointed. The wait at the front desk for check in was long, but the staff was quite helpful once it was our turn. The concierge staff was also very helpful with ideas for what to see, where to go, how to get there and the cost of a taxi ride. The location was right next to Grand Central Station which positioned us for fun everywhere all over the city! Every night in the lobby, there was a party-like atmosphere and the crowd that was attracted (men or women) was very sophisticated and charming. For people watchers, it was like heaven! For partiers, it was even better! A band most nights and a great staff in the bar. But the minute the elevator doors closed, it was quiet. Bliss (the spa on site) was amazing (ahhhh!) and their products were provided in the room daily. Overall, a great experience!

I have stayed at this W many times with Starwood points. The location is ideal for getting in and out of the city and for exploring. I do love the Bliss Spa in the hotel and can highly recommend it. The basic rooms are very small and there are few rooms with two beds. However, the better rooms are quite comfortable since the renovation last year. The adjacent hotels on the street are often similarly priced and offer more comfortable and larger rooms. What you are paying a premium for at W is style, and there is plenty of that.
