I would equate this hotel with a Motel 6. This hotel needs a major renovation starting with the Management . Do they ever inspect their own rooms? Broken drapery rods and dirty carpets. The Onion grill was actually too nauseating to eat in. The old grease smell and the filthy seat cushions made it difficult to eat a burger. No free wifi unless you become a member. The first 2 nights we were awakened by a screaming baby. We stayed in the first floor, but that was this biggest mistake of all. Road noise! Then the ultimate insult was on the last night of 4, an entire group,of students outside our sliding glass doors at the pool area. I called the desk but were told they could play basketball and be loud until 11pm. They offered to move us but we were already in bed. Who puts a basketball court outside of a guests room. My husband also asked to print out our boarding passes, but we were told we would be charged! Seriously! This was supposed to be a work/ anniversary vacation. Never again OMNI. When I inquired about the ice machine being empty, an employee told me it had been broken for a few days , so,they just turned it off.

Everything was really good, especially the discounted room rate, The free beverages (with inexpensive options) at your door in the mornings was a nice touch. All of the staff was top rate. Now the bad news. The Onion Grill is over-priced, under-whelming, and down right depressing. In a foodie Mecca like Austin, go out to eat. Also, don't hold the bottom of freeway flyovers location against the hotel. If you are on vacation to stare out the window of your room, go to Paris or at least San Francisco.

Frequent this hotel several times a year, no other compares for the value.

With a daughter attending UT, we've spent several weekends a year in Austin and the Omni has become the bar for any other hotel to meet. I love to try new places but it just isn't worth it any more . . . the Omni has become the bar and I've found that other hotels, even higher priced ones, just don't meet my expectations like the Omni. The staff has always been incredible, parking is free, the hotel atmosphere is elegant but cozy and the rooms are clean and very nice.
