We booked our room in January 2011 for a September 2011, our the room that we requested was unavable of the first night. There was a cockroach in room. Great location, but the hotell needs a good paint, new carpet. New everything. I would suggest when booking room as for the bedroom that is at the back of the building as its so noise, but you are in the city that never sleeps.

The floors are squeaky. No one vacuums the floors. There are stairs in and out of the hotel - not very accessible. Sheets were clean but out of the dry cleaner - no pressing or ironing. Walls are very thin - can hear what the other people are talking. Overall: not a good hotel. Though, I don't know if the other Manhattan hotels are the same or different. Maybe this is the standard in Manhattan.

Although my friends had a decent corner room... old but ok. Our room was disgusting. We were so close to the building next door you didn't have to use shades to sleep late because the room was so dark. But, there was enough room for the rattling window unit to bang around. The shower curtain did not reach the tub, water on floor, mold in shower, back of commode was not on, toilet lid not secure, beds were sway back and it was stinky. The carpet was so dirty my wife wouldn't let the kids walk around without socks on. We still don't know if the little black balls in the corner were rat or mouse droppings. The front desk wouldn't move us...."that's your room"... but did say they were sorry we were unhappy .... ps, this is the only review I have ever written... i don't write these things... that's how bad this place was.

The greatest asset of this hotel is location. Very close to Times Square, Broadway, Central Park. Subway access couldn't be closer. However, elevators are completely inadequate for a hotel this size. Bellhops took undersized elevators numerous times, filling them with bags while guests had to wait for the other car. That's right. Two small elevators and of course we were on the 16th floor. No free wifi and they charged me $6 to print my boarding passes. I understand if I'm checking email or facebooking but not boarding passes. As for the restaurant, I have never encountered such rudeness in my life. The "hostess" should not be working with the public. She stood over our table because they wanted us to leave because we had a large group and they wanted our table. We weren't even done eating. The price was ok. The location was good. Rooms were clean but I believe I'll look for other options next time.

The hotel let us check in early and even gave us a free upgrade to a suite.
