A great value in a great spot!
04/26/2012The hotel was in such a great location for all the attractions that we wanted to see. the rooms are small, but clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Right in the middle of anything you want to do in the city! The staff was great and the hotel itself was really impressive from the lobby. My only concerns were the room itself was rather small and it could have been i better repair (IE pain chipping from the bathroom door and airconditioner had to be worked on during our stay) and it alsp lacked alot of the in room ammenities that i am used to like an ice bucket and a coffee pot. Over all it was a nice place full of nice staff members and we really enjoyed our stay.

Room not ready (again)

We stayed at the Wellington at Christmas and had to wait in the hall for an hour while the room was being cleaned. The view was worth the wait looking straight down at Times Square. On this visit, the room was again not ready. When I explained that this same thing happened in December and I was not really wanting to wait again for a clean room, the desk clerk raised her eyebrows and smirked as she disappeared around the corner. She came back smiling and said "I have something for you".... boy did she. A dingy room in the older part of the hotel overlooking a building - well, actually, looking into a building. I returned to the desk and was told that was all that was available. When I asked for the first room, her reply was, we have already given that to someone else - all within 30-45 minutes. I explained that we have stayed there numerous times and would like to come back if they could make this reservation right. Again, the eyebrows peaked and with a terse expression simply replied - sorry! Me too. NEVER going back.
