We booked the Wellington Hotel because it was near Times Square, Central Park and the Theatre District, and we were not disappointed! The Wellington was in a safe and convenient location and made it easy for my teen daughter and me to hop on the Subway or walk to most places we were going. While not a luxury property, the hotel was clean, the beds comfortable and the staff friendly and accommodating. Our room was a tad on the small size, but this is NYC real estate afterall, and really, we did not spend a great deal of time in our room. As two females traveling alone, we always felt safe and it was easy for us to come and go to see all of the wonderful sights The BIg Apple has to offer. We often came back to the hotel in the afternoon after a long day of sightseeing for a little R&R or to drop off our shopping treasures. I can't imagine staying somewhere off the beaten path, when the Wellington was so convenient. Our room was very quiet and located on an interior hallway. Elevators were small and a little slow at times, but a minor issue for us. While we did not dine at the hotel and can't comment on the quality of the food served, there are some very reasonable "local joints" within easy walking distance. We loved being able to get a light breakfast and sit at a table on the street and watch the city come to life during morning rush. When we return to NYC, we will most definitely consider the Wellington again as our "home away from home." Overall, it was an ideal location for this budget-minded, theatre loving mother-daughter duo!

Very disappointing experience; check in was difficult and clerk was rude; room small and in desperate need of repairs; roaches in the bathtub; lights didn't work properly; window shade broken; showerhead didn't work properly; was very happy to check-out; you get what you pay for on this hotel

My mom and I went to NYC at Christmas. We wanted an older hotel with character in a good price range. This was a great place. Nothing fancy, the room was small but we didnt spend much time there. We did have to share a double bed but the room was cozy, very clean and is what we were looking for. The bathroom looked like it was newly remodeled. the front desk staff were very helpful. It was in a great location with a subway stop right outside the door. We were a few blocks walk from Central Park and a few blocks from Times Square. There were many restaurants, delis etc..... right outside the door. Definitely would go back again and recommend.
