Sometimes we tend to stay away from hotels that are not chains. In this case that would be a mistake! The Kings Inn is located on the same street as most of the chain hotels but it has a feeling all it's own. Yes the bath is small, but the room was nice sized and very clean. The pool big, warm (even in December) and very pretty occupying the center courtyard. The hotel has two restaurants that draw not only from hotel guests but also from the surrounding community. The Waffle Spot has a great breakfast menu including omelets, pancakes, excellent coffee and the best waffles (my favorite was the apple cinnamon waffle). The Amigo Spot has a Happy Hour, with chips and salsa as well as a free hot dish, like enchiladas . They also have a long list of items for less than $3 including burgers, wings, cheese sticks, etc. On Friday, after a long day of touring we decided to stay in and order from the regular menu. The whole fish my husband ordered was perfectly done, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. I had a wonderful fish fillet with Veracruz sauce. Other items included steaks and chicken. The prices were so much better than any of the other restaurants we had looked at, and the food was outstanding. It was nice to be able to walk a few steps to our room after an evening of mariachis and good food and drink.

The hotel is older but the staff was great! You can request a small fridge in your room which.... mine was spacious, clean and pleasant. The attached resturants where fine, I travel to SD several times a year on business and this has been the best value to date. I did have a male knock on my door and want me to make a contribution to some charity, I did not open the door and no one bothered me the rest of the stay. I did see what looked like an ""eye in the sky"" camera in the hall and I can only hope they saw him and ran him off, I was not the only female staying so overall I felt safe.

We were pleasantly surprised at the value of this hotel. Located close to everything, 2 restaurants are attached to the hotel and the staff are lovely and helpful. The pool is great, very large and has a spa attached. We would definitely stay here again. Our only complaint was the noise made by our neighbor and their children - but thats hardly the fault of the hotel! I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling on a budget - great value.

This is a lovely place to stay with outdoor pool and hot tub. We enjoyed the hot tub every day. The location is very convienent to the airport and attractions if you have a rented car. The two restaurants connected to the King's Inn have excellent food (Waffle spot for breakfast and the Spanish food for dinner)and it was great to have the convienience of having them right there. The room was a little tight for 4 people but the rooms were made up nice and clean.

We took a quick trip to San Diego and chose to stay at tke Kings Inn becuase of the price and many reviews that i read. We arrived 10 mins. early and were allowed to check in. The staff was very friendly and quick. The room we got had the usual hotel smell, but it did not bother us. The place is a bit outdated but we werent there to stare at the walls, all we need was a place to sleep and shower. The beds were comfortable and clean. According to my husband, "the bathroom was way too small!", but to me it did the job. The only thing that did bothered me was that the ac was a little noisy, but the room did get cold fast! The location is geat! close to everything and easy to find. About 10 mins. away from Sea World and Mission Bay. Overall, for the price we paid, we got our money's worth. We also tried the waffle place they have off the lobby and it was very good. We would stay here again.
