I cannot believe this hotel was rated as 3 stars. Maybe it's San Diego's best kept secret. It is right on the beach, the hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. Above all, the rooms were CLEAN. I would definitely stay there again and recommend this hotel to my friends.

We only stayed one night at the Pacific Terrace but wish we would have stayed longer. It is right on the beach and the view was great. We had a partial ocean view on the first floor which was really nice because the patio opened up to the pool&jacuzzi. I do think I will request a second or third floor room next time just for the better view. The rooms were very clean and updated. In my opinion it is the best hotel in the Pacific Beach area, most of the other hotels are more like ""motels"" and are older and run down. It was also fairly close to Sea World, about a 5min drive. We will definately stay there on our next trip to San Diego.

Let me start by saying that it was a nice hotel besides some small things here and there. We arrived very late/early in the am, we were greeted. Everyone was really nice that worked there. But we did have some information issues with one staff (conceirge). We asked what time a restuarant near by closed ... she told us 9:30 or 10 ... well, it closed at 8:30, good thing I called otherwise it would have messed up our plans. Also, we got charged for something in our minibar that we didn't get. My husband called down there, talked to someone, said they'd take care of it but it wasn't. We had to deal with that again when we checked out, which was then taken care of. Now, the hotel itself was not as clean as I had thought. For that price and the reviews, I expected clean. The carpet in our jr suite was stained and filthy. The decor was nice but it lacked in the clean department. Overall, it was a nice hotel but for the price adn it being a 3 star hotel, I expected nicer. Also, while we were there the elevator broke down ... it was fixed promptly. It's a good hotel, located on the beach, parking is $20 a night in the garage, free spots are hard to come by. I just doubt I'd stay there again, there are too many other places to stay that might be a little better.

This hotel is located in Pacific Beach which is a relaxed, young area with lots of restaurants, bars, and shops. The center of this area is Garnet Street which is in walking distance from the hotel. The staff at Pacific Terrace Hotel were extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Two room features we liked were the alarm clock where you could plug in your IPOD and the big screen TV. One complaint is the walls/ceiling were thin so it was hard to sleep in with all the noise from children in nearby rooms running around. We were pleasantly surprised with the continental breakfast. Overall we would recommend this hotel. However, keep in mind this hotel is about a $30 cab ride to downtown San Diego/Gaslamp Quarter and $35 to the Zoo. You can take the bus but we were told it would take close to an hour with transfers. However, you can take a short bus ride on the #30bus south to Old Town and you can take the #30bus north to La Jolla (nice area with shops/restaurants/and seal beach).
