We had a queen bed superior room. It was clean and cleaned each day. The bathroom was small, as to be expected in NY. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We talked to them every morning and evening. They offered to carry bags (we declined) on our arrival and departure. They stored a bag for us after checkout on our last day. I heard them offering to carry luggage to everyone they waited on. The door from the street opens to a flight of stairs, often there is staff waiting at the top to come help, but to be sure you may want to have their phone number handy if you cannot carry your own bags. The carpet on the stairs and hallways looks pretty dirty, but in our room it was different carpet and very clean. The lobby and rooms are attractive, our room looked just like the picture. There is a small bar in the lobby - very sweet. Everything you need is just outside. Easy walk to Central Park (head east) and Hudson River Park (head west). The neighborhood is quite nice, never scary at night. We were worried about bed bugs and searched very carefully and didn't find any. We will definitely stay here again.

Bearing in mind it's an old building with no elevator and the lobby is on the 2nd floor I can't recommend it for all but for us it was fine. I had thought I'd booked a room w/ 2 beds but was mistaken. They couldn't change it for us the first night but were able to for the remaining nights. Very friendly staff esp. Robinson, Marie and Margie at the front desk as well as the bellmen and the bartenders. Nice, quiet neighborhood in the mid-upper west side. Easy subway and bus axis.

I stayed at the Marrakech in September and had a very pleasant stay. Â It was a great location, with a subway right across the street, and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square but still very close via the subway. Â The staff was very friendly and helpful, the hotel and our room very clean and our floor was nice and quiet. Â Our room had plenty of space and we were able to access the hotel's wifi. Â My only issue with the hotel is that they don't have an elevator. Â Had I known that I would have requested a lobby level room. Â

I booked this tour with my partner because I wanted to know New York. Even dough the hotel is not close to time square, it is well located because the train station is right in the corner of the hotel and the traveling time to Time Square is about 20 minutes. Central Park is acouple of blocks by walking. The only thing I did not like was that staff is not focused in making your visit the most pleasant. But if you are traveling on a budget and do not care about not being welcomed with a big smile this is the place to stay during your visit. Plenty of business around the hotel including Starbucks.
