I chose the Bolongo Bay Beach resort as the destination for my honeymoon and took the "room only" package for financial purposes. After two days, it became clear the resort was highly overpriced and limited for food options. Additionally, the resort requires you to pay an additional $100 deposit for "incidentals." The events around the resort appeared poorly planned as the events schedule listed two separated sailing events for 9/30 while organizers stated they were on 9/31. My second issue was the poorly maintained beach (broken glass bottles, cigarette butts). Third, the resort as a whole is outdated (no central air, just individual units; no ventilation in bathrooms; no onsite laundry). Additionally, several events such as sailing to St. John and Carnival night were not free even for "all inclusive." My wife and myself loved the island and will return; however, we will be choosing another resort/hotel.

My husband and I had a great time at Bolongo! The staff was fantastic, food was great, and there was plenty of things to entertain us throughout our stay. We choose the all inclusive option which was a great deal- we definitely got our money's worth! A la carte dining was delicious at lobster grill and iggy's was a great lunch choice. Our one-year-old son especially liked the lobster bisque at the lobster grill. We also had a great time paddle boarding and trying all the other water sports that were included. The only thing you need to remember before heading down is some water proof shoes for the very rocky water. It's still beautiful but can be quite painful. Overall- this trip was just what we wanted- relaxing, beautiful, delicious, and very laid back! Thank you bolongo bay!

Bolongo Bay is a welcoming affordable family owned and operated resort if you don't mind being a short distance from town in a secluded bay. It doesn't have a lot of frills and the rooms are average, but very clean, right on the beach and a short walk to festivities and refreshments. The all inclusive package includes food and drink from both of the resort's restaurants, Iggie's Beach Bar and Lobster Grille's fine dining. Non-motorized water sport equipment is complimentary with good snorkeling right at the resort. Charlotte Amelia, the jewelry capital of the world, is a short taxi ride away, as is Red Hook and the ferry to St. John. Bolongo Bay resort is the affordable way to relax and enjoy the feel of Caribbean.

The resort is right on the beach and hotel guests has free access to all non-motorized water toys such as kayaks, paddle boats, snorkel gear etc. There was so much to do on the beach and at Iggies that going off the resort was not a major concern. People from other resorts came to Bolongo's resort to enjoy the beach amenities because of the price was reasonable. Scuba diving and sailing tours was available to all guests. What stinks was the the jet ski service was not open during our stay and we were not notify. Lobstergrille was ok, bit pricey but we definitely enjoyed Iggies' menu, live music and activities they hosted.
love the people but the hotel....09/08/2012

I read upon alot of reviews before making my reservations and must really study a little closer in the future and ask lots of questions. My husband and I just got back from Bolongo yesterday we were gone from sunday to friday. The people at the hotel were wonderful and friendly and helpful. The bartenders, the ladies in the gift shop and the staff that worked at Lobster grille were out of this world. The rooms are really run down. Our toliet didnt flush the first time had to flush it several times, no vent in there, and it was extremely hot. The shower took for ever to get hot water. The head board hit the wall every time you turned over we put a pillow or blanket in between so the neighbors wouldnt be deserved. Beds are very very small! The air ran all the time and so we were constantly adjusting. the walls are very thin and they had outdoor entainment every night at Iggeys which is ok if you are a night person and didnt want to sleep until after 11 or 12. they started working on the pool and bar and lobster grille yesterday as we were leaving and for a week or two but wish they put their money into the rooms first for comfort!! Lobster Grille was out of this world we ate here every day for all three meals after trying Iggeys twice two nights and getting sick. Dont know if it was the food or just the heat, drinks and jet lag but Lobster Grille was the best, especially the egg plant..... no internet in our room had to go up by office to use computer also we were there on a all inclusive the beach there is small but big enough and its beautiful. i have nothing to compare this too of course but i would not go back there except to eat.
