A pleasant stay - the bed could have been better.

Sadly, we only got to stay one night on a quick trip through the state. After circling the block a few times in search of a parking spot, we finally got close enough for the valets to take over. The boutique hotel is reminiscent of Victorian England - large floral wallpapers, overstuffed furniture, four-poster beds, elevator with the manually-closed doors, etc. It was very tastefully done. The room were generous in size, with a large bed, several chairs, and a few modern amenities - gas fireplace, wi-fi and LCD TV. The bathroom was also tastefully done, with black and white tiles and a large tub. Our room had a few cracked or broken floor tiles - all in corners or places harder to see. The bed was comfy, the room was quiet, and we were a matter of blocks from Union Square. Breakfast was served downstairs in another charming area, with tables and chairs, sofas, another fireplace and an outdoor patio and deck area. Quite enjoyable. This charming inn is a great cove of serenity in the chaotic sea of San Francisco. We will return.

04/12/2011White swan always lives up to our expectations. rooms are furnished with antiques and rates are reasonable. nice to have a fireplace in the room. we have never been disappointed.

The rooms are fantastic. I felt like I was staying in an old Victorian mansion. Rarely have I wanted to invite friends over to a hotel room, but I would have gladly had callers at this place! A nice, comfortable, high bed, the old-school elevator, and a cozy breakfast room downstairs all rounded out a very pleasant stay. Well worth the price. (Expect to pay extra for valet parking, though. I think it was about $25 per day, which was cheaper than the other lots in the vicinity, but still not cheap.)
