Hotel Metro was exactly what I was looking for. I had never been to NYC before and I wanted to stay somewhere clean with a great location and that is exactly what I got. The room was small (which I expected), but clean and the location could not have been better. The staff was very helpful.

Let me start by saying this was our third stay in this hotel and we returned because of the service. Unfortunately in the few months since our last visit, the staff and the conditon of the hotel have changed for the worse. On arrival we were informed our reservation was not until 9-09-2009 . We showed the clerk the confirmation and the Hotel Metro reminder for the dates of 8-09-2009 and the clerk was insistent our stay was for 9-2009. Never an apology for the booking of incorrect dates, just a rude attitude!!!!!! Next, on Sunday we went to the ice vending machine. Guess what it was out of order. No sign to indicate that the machine was not working. Want ice, the desk suggest you come down stairs to the restaurant. Want to watch a movie, that's not working either. Called the front desk and they wanted to know what the problem was when you complained about the movies playing half way through and then having to restart from the beginning. Will never stay here again. There are many other hotels around this area. Hampton Inn and Comfort Inn are new and just down the same street. Hotel Metro isn't the only one!!!! We will be returning in January and we will not consider staying here. We suggest the management clean house. In case they haven't notice we are in a recession now and customer service is what keeps businesses open. You can bet we will be recommmending the new Hampton Inn and the Comfort end on the same street.

Great location, 1/2 block from subway, close to Times Square, around the corner from Empire State building, and 1 block from Macy's and shopping. The double bed room we had was small but clean and we didn't want to spend time in the room except to sleep. I would definitely upgrade to the queen sized bed. We are used to a king, so the double felt small. Bathroom was shower only, but sufficient and again CLEAN. The staff was very helpful. The doorman is a great source of info for restaurants locals frequent. We LOVED the rooftop bar area, we took our Starbucks up and and hang out until it closed. The view of the Empire State building is amazing. They also serve lunch and dinner at the bar from the Metro Grill (not associated with the breakfast service) downstairs. The continental breakfast was suffcient for us, nothing fancy but the basics were fine: Toast, bagels, sweet rolls, oatmeal packets, dry cereal, granola, plain and flavored yogurt, peanut butter, cheese, fresh fruit bowl, bananas, oranges and apples. The dining room, open 6-11, is large and comfortable, but gets crowded. I loved all the different nationalities, lots of European and Asian visitors. We liked to try a different restaurant each night and ate in the Metro Grill one night--it was good pub fare. If you're looking for value and location, the Metro Hotel is a great choice.

I spent a week with my daughter for her sixteenth birthday in New York and we had an amazing time. The hotel was nicer than we thought it would be, the room was appealing and was very clean. The continental breakfast was great; we were also able to have coffee or tea any time of the day. The staff was also very kind. The only negative comment for us is that due the fact we went in February the weather was cold on some days, so it?s a bit of a walk to the theatre district. Otherwise the hotel is great! I would definitely stay there again.
