Lovely, restored Art-Deco gem. Fantastic service. Close to the beach, but far enough that it's quiet. Nice room, nice-sized. Excellent bed and bath linen. It's a historic property, so some of the appointments are a little unconventional (example: a dresser in a large closet). But the overall effect is still nice. Small pool, really just for a splash, place to hang, but if you want more, the next-door affiliate property offers quite a 'scene.'

I have traveled to South Beach about 1 or 2 times a year. Every time me and my wife try something new. After our visit here I think we may return to the Essex House. It is located near everything in South Beach. Parking is located about 50 feet from the hotel on Collins Ave. Cost is $*, for 24 hours. Or valet for $* a day. We did not need to drive anywhere as we could easily walk there. The hotel looks new inside. The staff was great. The bartender made it hard to want to leave! The room is a good size with excellent furnishings. Could of used a chair or two though. A mini/wet bar would work too. The room looked about 98% new on the inside. The only complaint is the $* per night deposit. A big plus is the use of the Clevelander's amenities as well. Great food, good price. There is a lot to do so near by! The Essex is a bit more family friendly, as the Clevelander is loud until 5 a.m. I would recommend this hotel!!

Thank you for asking, yes we had a great stay on the fourth of July weekend. The front desk people worked very diligently when we found our room fool of sometype of equipment, they looked into the matter immediatly and upgraded our room. We are very greatful, because it could had been a kaos. Thanks aging for your staff, and for the great service we received in our stay.

(+) The hotel was very centrally located. (-) The one issue we encountered was the cleaning staff charged us $* for a hand towel that they said could not be used again. Mind you, the towel was used to wipe of red hawaii punch. Not only did they charge this ridiculous amount, but we were in the room when they cleaned it and picked up the item! The "manager" didn't have the decency to tell us this at that time. She argued with me and threatened to have me removed from the property when I told her I disagreed. (of course I was angry!)
