    As far as location it's fantastic. other than that not worth it, there are many other hotels in the area you can stay at. the mattress was extremely uncomfortable.

    We were very excited to be staying at a classic hotel located on the lake.. their "pictures" on-line looked wonderful!! well.... we arrived to find "union" workers picketing at ...

    We were very excited to be staying at a classic hotel located on the lake.. Their "pictures" on-line looked wonderful!! Well.... We arrived to find "union" workers picketing at the front entrance of the hotel... After asking the staff a few questions, we found that they have been doing this for over 8 years... Hmmmm The staff was really great and eager to tend to our every whim... However, we were shocked when we arrived at our room.. The carpeting looked like "indoor-outdoor" utility carpeting from the 1970's... The lamps were 1970's "Kmart" looking... The paint was chipped, and the trim paint looked like a 12 year old painted it... Smeared and ugly... AND!! You will immediately notice the overwhelming toxic like smell of some sort of "smoke smell" hiding air freshener.. We couldn't believe it!! And to save money, the hotel hallways are lit with florescent lights making everything look very "industrial," flat, and cold... After letting the front desk know that we were very unhappy with our room, they moved us to a room (#800) located in the "north" tower.. MUCH better!!!! Clean, classy, and much more to our expectations as to how a classic hotel should be. If we hadn't said anything, we would have been staying in an absolute "dump" of a room.

    We enjoyed our stay at the Congress. It was perfectly located for the things we wanted to do. Two of the Hop-on, Hop-off bus tour stops were just down and up the street from the hotel. The beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet, even though the Chicago marathon was in town. The rooms are old and the updating is not recent, but it was a good price and made for a nice stay in Chicago.

    Affordable, good quality. some furniture is chipped, but all of the important elements like location, room size, and comfort were fine.
