The building's history and former opulence, along with the amazing downtown location were the only things our stay had going for it. The staff was lackluster and didn't seem eager to please. We had reserved adjoining rooms, but there were apparently none available - so the desk clerk gave us, 2 rooms, "next to each other" . The rooms we actually got were NOT next to each other, there was another room, a corner hallway, 2 doors and elevators between the rooms. The tubs didn't drain, no free internet, the b-fast buffet was too costly. But at least the rooms were quiet, and the building was charming.

My experience was overall pretty good. The hotel itself is in a nice area and in walking distance of a lot of museums and close to public transportation. Not too many restaurants/bars nearby but I think that's the area itself. The staff is incredibly nice and accommodating. They let us check in 3 hours early free of charge and the concierge held our bags at the hotel since we had a whole day to kill after check out. The rooms are a little snug and outdated but all the basic amenities are there. Good for if you don't plan to spend too much time in the hotel.

Location for business in the Loop area is great. Room was clean and comfortable, little small for a couple but fine for single person on business. Staff was very helpful, restaurants and bar on lower level are convenient.

Room was super tiny and I was right off the elevator. Had asked for a non smoking room, told it was until I left someone advised me that it wasn't. It wreaked of smoke as I entered my room and I had to stay there for 8 days. Security was disrespectful and didn't understand customer satisfaction. The hotel is old and it's ok if you are in a pinch and don't care about other qualities - but overall I was not pleased. Last evening felt I was at a seedy motel with banging walls and other side effects. Prior to that it was relatively quiet.
