This is an example of owners who won't invest in their hotel. The hotel is an older, formerly grand hotel whose owners haven't put the money into it to keep it grand. The location was execellent for access to the downtown Chicago area. As far as the rooms, the curtains in our room were vinyl, furniture appeared to be from IKEA, and the bathroom had three different tiles in it that did not coordinate. While the room was small, I can understand that considering the age of the hotel. What I couldn't understand is the cheapness of the furnishings and decor. The staff was wonderful and deserve to work someplace as nice as they are.

Cheap price for location. It's within walking distance to several parks, the art institute and the chicago harbor. Hotel is not in the best of conditions. Our hallway to the room smelled really bad. The veiw from the room was of another building and only a little bit of the harbor. I'd recommend paying the extra money for a lake veiw if booking a room here.

The hotel looks to be a converted office building, and certainly feels like one. It has a bit of a worn-out ambiance, and motel-quality decor. That said, the room was clean, had a full set of amenities and services, and the staff were courteous and professional. I was annoyed at having to pay for the internet service -- very 90s.
