My husband and I had an excellent experience staying at the Beacon. It's location is perfectly situated within walking distance of anything you cold want or need. The beach is right in front and gorgeous. The decor is classic Art Deco and the rooms tasteful. The beds are very comfortable and the sheets are luxurious. Most important were the people that worked there. They were not only professional but warm, friendly and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. I highly recommend Beacon Hotel and will definitely return.

This stay was a disaster. Travelwebsite charged me twice the regular rate. The initial rate was there when I first looked. Up when I booked. Back down several days later. Well after the 24 hour ""guarantee"". Front desk staff was unfriendly. I mean downright snobby and unaccommodating. Room was filthy. Cold stone floors that were sticky and dirty. Made sure to wear shoes at all times. Walk to room (located at the front of the hotel) was on uneven floors, through another door and up some more steps. Hard for my mother to navigate. Asked for extra chair in room. No response. No information in room about features. No TV listing. No info about setting cooler unit. The room information was all on a sheet that I signed and the desk took back. Nothing in room even said what the breakfast hours were. Beach chairs and floats in closet had sand and vomit on them. Sand all over closet. Room floor wasn't even swept on our second day. Trash in halls. No bar holds for bathtub. Safety latch on door was broken off. Definitely did not feel safe in room. Only lobby is on mezzanine with no windows. Room listed as ""Ocean View"". No ocean in sight. Worst experience ever on South Beach. Also worst travelwebsite experience ever. They lost me on this one.

Overall my stay was good. The only problem was the parking/valet service. The valet service is not employed by the hotel. They solicit folks to use their service for parking in South Beach. The small area in the front of thge hotel was normally full of cars to be parked with no space for a hotel customer to pull up or get out of a taxi without holding up major traffic. The hotel should provide prioity service to their customers.

I found the hotel to be everything that was necessary for a great vacation to Miami. The rooms, as stated by others, are a bit small when there are two double beds. Since we were not in the rooms for long periods, that was fine. The location of the hotel is great. Right across from the beach and within easy walking distance of all things SoBe. I really thought the staff was great, friendly and knowledgeable. A very pleasant experience. I hope to be back.

I wouldn't take a chance on this hotel. Lots of other hotels in Miami. Here's my honest opinion. Great location. Rooms were semi-clean but not great. Staff OK. Bed was overdue to be replaced. Sagging in middle. If you can get it cheap enough and don't want three or better stars, it is a doable place. I would not go back.
