The location of the hotel is great. If you are into partying on Bourbon St, you are w/i crawling distance from your room. Probably the biggest complaint I would have would have to be the $33 per day parking fee charged to hotel guests to use the hotel garage. It seems to me that if a guest wishes to drive to New Orleans in order to stay at the hotel, the hotel could at least comp the parking fee.

I stayed 3 nights and enjoyed each one! The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located. I enjoy the Bourbon Street scene, but really liked the fact that the hotel sits more on the end of the stretch (only 2 blocks from Canal Street). The hotel staff were pleasant, there were fresh flowers in the lobby, the bed was comfy, the bathroom was clean, very nice flat-screen TV, and the street noise wasn't entirely that loud. I'd highly recommend the hotel and would stay there again.

The Royal Sonesta is an elegant and restful retreat in the middle of the loud and party section of the French Quarters. The rooms were tastefully decorated, updated and clean. The service overall was friendly and efficient. We did have an issue at check-in (they couldn't find our reservations) but it was resolved. The location is close to many great restaurants and there is always a taxi cab available if you wish to go to a restaurant in another area of town.

The front desk was friendly, but not overly friendly or knowledgeable. We arrived several hours early and were not able to check in (that was okay though). But they could not even estimate a time to check back. When we did check in several hours later, the first thing I saw was the back of several old brick buildings. I requested a room with a decent view and was accommodated after a while. The rooms were very nice and very clean. The lobby was very nice as well. We were promised robes that we didn't get until end of our 2nd day. Had to remind them a couple of times. Room service food was good, but I paid cash and did not get my change until reminding them several times. All in all these things were very minor. I would definitely stay at the Royal Sonesta again and would recommend to others. The gym was a converted hotel room, so it wasn't very large. But I thought it was quite adequate for a quick workout!!!

Excellent hotel in a perfect location. Very professional staff and the ameniites offered are top rate. The perfect place to stay for a visit to New Orleans Frech Quarter. The only downside is the parking, if you drive be prepared to pay a tidy sum for parking with the hotel. I would definately stay here again.
