If you plan on going to Mayfields Jazz club located in the Royal Sonesta you might want to think twice. First of all show is suppose to start at 8PM nightly but never starts till around 9PM.......The special Jazz guest the last time I went was suppose to be Irwin Mayfield himself...so after taking a large group of people and a bar bill of about $* bucks we ask when Mr.Mayfield would be on stage...and the woman in charge told us he has something else to do so he would not be appearing that night.......I think after visiting the Jazz Club several times over the last year.....it all comes down to Bait and Switch.....I will not be returning to the Jazz club!!!!

I can't recommend this hotel enough! My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three nights during our vacation last week. The price was reasonable, the service excellent, and the staff friendly. For the price, this is a beautiful, comfortable hotel. Parking, like everywhere in New Orleans, was expensive ($104 for three nights) but no higher than anywhere else, plus our car was safely stowed in a parking garage under the hotel. The hotel bar has great live jazz, but expensive drinks.

I cannot say a negative word about my stay at the Royal Sonesta. Conti Street balcony room provided enough amusing views but still was quiet enough when the doors were closed. Bed was wonderfully comfortable; bathroom was nicely appointed. I loved Loved LOVED the Curtis Mayfield Jazz Lounge -- excellent music and service and a great "grown-up" place to spend the evening listening to great jazz music. With proximity to Bourbon Street, one could easily wander and be amused by all the antics of being Burbon-Faced on Street. Desire (the restaurant/bar at the front of the property) had a KILLER muffelatta with the double meat you would have had to request at Central Grocery. An ideal location -- I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
