The front desk had us arriving on our scheduled departure date...Consequently it took them about 10 minutes to get that straightened out and get us checked in ! Otherwise this hotel met our expectations! Overall the staff was very helpful and the location (in the French Quarter) was excellent! Drink prices were high, but the bar and resturant had a good ambience. There were many good resturants within walking distance of the hotel.

Stayed 2 nights; lovely hotel, gorgeous lobby, wonderful staff. Our only complaint was the street noise! It was deafening until about 3am both nights! We had a balcony room on the side street. So if you are planning on getting some sleep, ask for an inner courtyard room; don't stay in any room that is near any street! The bell hops and front door men were wonderful! Find XYZ if you need anything at all or any kind of assistance. He was awesome, from giving us tips on restaurants to arranging a taxi to take us to Willie Maes Scotch House for the best fried chicken you have ever had! Eat at the attached restaurant "Desire" (attached to Royal Sonesta), it was amazing! We would definitely stay here again but not in any room that has a balcony and fronts any street. If you want quiet, go down to Canal Street and stay at the Marriot, the Omni or Harrahs. And eat at Dickey Brennans for the best steak ever! It's off Bourbon near the Royal Sonesta.

With elaborate Christmas decorations and a central location, we were very pleased with our hotel choice for our maiden visit to New Orleans. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was delightful if somewhat loud even on the side street away from Bourbon Street. Everything was in order in the room and the bed was very comfortable.

  • Very happy with accommodations....
