This hotel is aging but beautiful situated right next to the airport, several miles from downtown San Diego, about an hour walk to the piers. Guests would be captive here without transportations. Hotel would happily charge you an arm an a leg for every little things, from $22 self parking to $19 burgers (plus tax & tips). The hotel staff oftenly acts like they are doing you a favor. Dinner at the Harborside Restaurant cost us $150 for two people without any drinks (not even ice tea). The waiter is no where in sight, never asked how is the taste of our foods, we have to ask several times to get the water refilled.

I would give this hotel 3 stats because there was a little bit of a bait and switch. There are two towers to the hotel are about a quarter mile apart b/c they appear to be separated by the airplane air lanes. That is understandable but the hotel clearly accommodates to the Marina Tower and I stayed in the Bay Tower. The concierge is located in the Marina; the pool pictured online is at the Marina; the views pictured online are from the Marina and all the techno updates were made in the Marina. The room itself was nice and large. It was just a hassle having to call concierge for everything who, in turned didn't answer the phone. The location was ideal to everything since I didn't rent a car. We went to the zoo, sea world, Coronado Beach, and Old Town and only paid more than $20 each way, once, and that charge was $22. Because I was disappointed with some of the main services offered, I wouldn't stay here again.

I had an excellent stay. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and since I was on the 11 th floor the view was great. The bed was so nice- clean sheets and squishy pillows. The tv had a good selection of channels. The bathroom was clean and plenty of hot water. Since I like to walk I did not mind the long walk to Horton Plaza. They do offer shuttle service which I did use to and from the airport. Everyone was very nice. I also liked that Starbucks was open at 5:30am promptly.
