This was our first time to SXSW and given the location and cost of this hotel we opted for it. I regretted it immediately. While it is within 1/2 mile of downtown it is located on a very busy freeway and in a rather "shady" area. Our room smelled so bad we had to stop by the local CVS to purchase an air freshener and the very first night in Austin a man approached my girlfriend from across the street and began mumbling incoherently in a rather threatening behavior (bus stop is right by hotel). My honest advice is to stay on the other side of the interstate (35 if I remember correctly). This small move makes a HUGE difference. Oh, and the Internet doesn't work so do not count on it!

This hotel is within walking and biking distance to all of Downtown and UT ,and Lady Bird Lake and the Hike and Bike tails. It is well kept and the staff was very helpful. It is a bit noisy but it is right on IH35 and 12th St. so that is to be expected. All and all a great value.

Hotel is located right off of 12th street and I-35. Easy walking distance to great music venues off of Red River (Mohawk, Stubbs). Short cab ride from hotel to 6th-7th street, if required. Left items behind in room and staff worked cooperatively to package them and allowed me to schedule a UPS pick up service. Would definitely stay here again.

This has got to be the best deal for the location. If you are not concerned with luxury appointments in your room, the Super Eight might be the place. Friendly staff, walking distance to capitol, downtown, (6th street) and the University of Texas. Rooms are simple but clean. They include microwave and fridge. Easy access to I-35, both north and southbound. No on site restaurant but Denny's and CVS are very nearby.
