Ooooh boy, where should I start? Let us start at the beginning, it is a very good place to start... We chose Imperial Palace for our hotel stay in Las vegas because it was centrally located on the strip, and was inexpensive. It is central, but not worth the price in any way. When we arrived by shuttle bus, we were dropped off in what amounts to a back alley, about a 5 minute walk through the parking garage, just to get to the back entrance to the hotel. We would not have been surprised if we had been shot at. After walking through back hallways for another 5 minutes, we found that we still had to go all the way through the casino with our baggage to get to the front desk, which was by the front door. Oddly enough, the front doors were working, and taxis and cars could drive through the horseshoe entrance, but we were dropped off in an unacceptable location because it was a shuttle - that's not any kind of customer service. After going to our room, we were welcomed by non-functioning lights. It turned out that the lamp between the beds wasn't plugged in, and the tall lamp by the window wasn't plugged into the correct socket for it to be controlled by the master switch. By the way, there were two whole outlets in the room! We had to unplug the clock radio between the beds to plug in the table lamp (the other plug was being used by the phone, of course). Our "queen" beds were full sized, and the air conditioner kept blowing black flakes onto the closest bed - I assume that the conditioner hasn't been cleaned since the Carter administration. We were afraid to walk on the carpet in bare feet, and one of the headboards is breaking apart and could give you slivers if you are a tosser and turner at night. On the room cleaning front, our room was serviced as much as every other day! On Wednesday, I had to get a couple of rolls of toilet paper and two trash bags from a cart stationed on the other side of the floor so I could do it myself. Because they are building some ferris wheel out back, there is constant contruction noise. Also, it sounds like someone is bowling above us at odd times of the day and night. Walking through the shabby, dingy casino is another treat. I wouldn't touch the cloth on these tables with a ten foot pole attached to a gallon of hand sanitizer - they are filthy! There aare several "restaurants" in the hotel, only one of which, Hash House a go-go, is acceptable. Out first visit there wasn't great - the food was okay, but took an hour to get, and was cold when we did get it. The manager took care of us, and we tried it again yesterday with a much better experience. The Emperor's buffet is a joke - it felt like a buffet you'd throw together in a church basement. The room was tiny, and the food selection was pitiful. We looked at the other restaurants in the hotel, and were too scared to try them. The elevators all have their unique smells, and it's not just smoke. We have had sewage smells off and on, in the hallway too. By the way, it's easy to see that there is no traffic in the restaurants or the casino here. Everything screams "this hotel is dying." All of this is thrown into stark relief by simply walking to the adjoining Harrah's, which is clean, comfortable, and filled with people. It's a very big contrast! Both hotels are owned by the same company, in case you didn't know... Internet costs about $10 a day, per device, and the TV is a classic tube right out of 1990 - complete with about 12 channels. This is 2012 right? We had a tour guide yesterday speculate that the reason for the Imperial Palace's current state is that the owning company can't decide to tear it down and build new, or to renovate... so it is stagnant instead. I vote for tearing it down - this thing is beyond saving.

Friday night in Las Vegas is always a hassle, but for people staying at The Imperial Palace, it's particularly troublesome. The Valet system is woefully inadequate, cramped, congested, and not up to speed with it's competitors. Nobody seemed to know what to tell me, and I ended up circling the hotel twice, and then finally going to the self-parking, which wasn't very good either. Check-in went fine, but it took quite a while before my bags were brought to my room. The rooms are fine, but between the noise from the parking garage (which our room faced) and the noise from the strip, and the noise from the other quests coming up and down the hall all night, I didn't get much sleep. I had no phone reception, no working wifi options, the TV didn't work, I had to call house keeping twice to get an extra towel. I know, it's Vegas. And I've been hundreds of times, and I've stayed at worse hotels. But next time I'll either stay off strip, or spring for a better room. I'm also used to better customer service and relations. Imperial Palace came up short.

The Rooms were decent, especially for the price. This is Vegas and you shouldnt be in your room besides to sleep and shower anyway. Why waste money? Pool area was fun. Had a few good restaurants like johnny rockets and a pizza and asian place. Pricing for those were good also.
