The hotel is a beautiful property. I stayed there for two nights because of in-town business. For the price of the room, it was a good, especially being in the middle of Downtown Los Angeles. Downside: Their standard room was small. If you have the TV console out (which is in front of the bed), you literally have about a six inch walkway between the bed and the TV. So every time I needed to walk to the bathroom, I had to push the TV back into the sliding console, but it won't stay put...it pops right back out. Also, no microwave, coffee, or mini fridge inside the room. $10 add'l for internet service, $40 a day to park your car Upside: The bed was comfortable, and the hallway stayed relatively quiet, which was important to getting a good night's sleep.

Overall was a good hotel stay in downtown LA. Would of liked a coffee maker in the room for my wake up coffee. Bed Had an old mattress which did not recover after you layed on the mattress and got up. I could have rolled off my side of the bed. Looks like a very popular place for events.

I have stayed at this hotel several times. The value for your money is fine if you are willing to overlook several things: there is only one night table with a lamp. If the other person wants to read, there is no lamp on his side, no place to put your book, watch or cel phone. Inconvenient. Old TV set, in this day and age they could upgrade to flat screens. On this stay, we arrived very late to discover the tub faucet was leaking. Also the ancient TV set was not working. I was awakened around 2 am by extremely noisy people in the hallway. We were there for that only night so we overlooked this, but the next time we are in LA we will probably look at other hotels in the downtown area.

Although it is a beautiful hotel on the outside, it is showing some wear and tear on the inside. Hall carpeting needs to be replaced and ice and vending machines should be on each floor. Nonetheless, it is convenient to downtown and is a hotel worth considering.

Right in downtown Los Angeles, this hotel has been preserved in the style of the early 20th century in many nice ways. The lobby is impressive, and I liked the closeness of the vehicle forecourt to the lobby. The room we had was in an older wing, I think, and definitely showed a number of older features, but was very clean and comfortable. Overall, we felt that this hotel was quite charming, and it definitely suited our needs for an overnight stay between operas at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
