I had misgivings about booking a Quality Inn; however, I needed to be as far uptown as possible. So the Maison St. Charles fit the bill. First the good: it's located across from a St. Charles Avenue Streetcar stop, free breakfast, free wifi, free access to the St. Charles Athletic Club, beautifully landscaped common areas, laundry room, and generally friendly, pleasant staff. The bad: Even though the rooms have been decorated in purple velvet, cherrywood, and gold leaf finishes, it's still essentially a dressed up motel with a popcorn ceiling. I could live with that. But what was especially irksome was the fact that I had no hot water in the shower for my entire three-night stay. I complained repeatedly but it was never fixed. Between being extraordinarily busy and short on time, as well as experiencing unusually hot weather, I put up with the lack of hot water; the cold showers were not entirely unpleasant. However, that being said, problems like this should not be simply ignored, and the hotel failed miserably at attending to my needs in that regard.

We stayed here on a Saturday night and although it was an older hotel it was very clean and nice. It was very beautiful and peaceful. Far away from downtown to be quiet but a trolley stop was in front of the hotel am king it convenient to get everywhere. The negative was a $17 per night fee for self parking.

Very charming buildings and rooms. (Why come to NOLA and stay somewhere without local color?) Located at a streetcar and bus stop. Breakfast was average but I appreciated that it started early since I was there for business. Secured parking lot.

Our door had a major crack in it that light from the outside could come in., The shower spray was loose from the wall, water flow poor. The breakfast was cold and unappealing. We had to park far away from the room even though we had a handicap card.

I had two rooms at this hotel...the double bed was a decent room and a lot nicer than the single queen. The single queen room smelled like it had water damage, it had a very strong mold smell and my allergies were terrible in this room. The room was also so small that with the bed and two carry on suitcases there was really no room to move around. The AC in the room was so loud that we had to turn it off at night just to get some sleep. I will not stay there again.
