Our first time to the islands so we wanted something nice. This hotel was better than we could have expected. From the check in to the check out everything was perfect. The staff was exceptionally helpful be it a restaurant recommendation or room service this is the best 4 star hotel we have ever been in. I think it should be a 5 star with the level of concierge to the quality of the restuarants our suite was just superb. There is no doubt that when we bring our friends next year we will be staying here. Thank you Outrigger staff for a very memorable first island experience. P.S. We are used to 5 star accomodations we usually stay at Fairmont properties but they were over priced for the islands. Our travel agent suggested Outrigger and I don't think the Fairmont could do any better.

Never had a problem here with the room, billing, asking for extras, etc. Food was better than expected. Only one poor meal and the bar manager comped most of the problems we experienced. All the personnel were friendly and helpful. They offered to provide service in every area. One day of poor maid service in six - which was corrected that day. Had a great experience. Make sure you try the hula pie dessert in the barefoot bar! Our girls loved it and ate it all!

For perspective, we are in our 70's and have visited Hawaii almost every year since 1983 and have never stayed twice in the same hotel or condo... not because of any problems but because we always like to try something different. We very much enjoyed our two week stay this time too. I'll leave the raves to other reviewers (for the most part they're all valid) and just mention a few things others might skip. This is an older hotel so rooms and pool are somewhat smaller. Our first night was in room 706. Comfortable but the noise from the AC on the roof of the Cheesecake Factory next door drove us off the balcony. The front desk agreed it was bad and moved us to room 1407 on the other side of the building. These rooms are at the end of the hall farthest away from the beach. The balcony was still a little noisy but just normal street noise at least. The room itself was quiet but around 5:00am the backup horns on delivery trucks begin and dumpsters are dropped. We were pleasantly surprised at how much beach and ocean is visible from the balcony of this cheapest category room. Rooms ending in 07 are smaller to make room for the outside stairwell and the bathrooms take the biggest hit. Room for one person at a time unless the second one is in the shower, which has no grab bars incidentally. The pool deck is crowded. Lounges just a few inches apart. Chairs on the beach start at $* hour. The fridge had no freezer shelf or temp control. Some rooms are tucked in right next to the elevators and a rackety ice machine and should be avoided. Ask. I'd stay away from the Cheesecake Factory side too.

I was looking for a kid friendly hotel in Waikiki. My kids had not been on a vacation before, so I wanted something nice and easy for us. The hotel is on the beach, so going down to the pool and beach meant not having to lug a bunch of stuff all over. The staff were friendly and helpful. It seemed we had most our interactions with the housekeepers, valets, and pool attendent. Duke's Canoe Club resteraunt is here. We had a bunch of pineapple from the salad bar, and our waiter brought out a bowl of hot fudge. On the down side, the walls are thin, allowing ajoinging room noise in. And the elevators are slow. The beds are comfortable, but only two double and a pull out couch were available, no queens. But, overall, I do plan on bringing our family back to Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach.
