We had a great week even if we had a few days of hurricane Ernesto to deal with. One day was bad with rain and it seemed the hotel made sure there was plenty to do inside. The hotel was very nice, the staff extremely friendly and helpful, the food in all the restaurants was great. Our favorite restaurant would be the Italian one. Bar service at the pool and on the beach was top notch. One of the most important things to me when choosing a vacation place is the beach area. We don't like mangroves or rocky areas and this beach area was beautiful. Beautiful white sands and no rocks. There was just a bit of seaweed which was most likely from the hurricane. We loved the fact that the water was clear and beautiful and there were good waves. The ONLY negatives I could give this place was the pushy and lengthy sales pitches to sign up for a time share program that you are hit up with from the moment you check in. We went to one presentation and it was very lengthy and we went through 4 different people before we finished. You are hit up at the airport and from the shuttle service as well. So beware when you go to Cancun for the first time to be bombarded by the "It's not a time share" sales demos and pitches (but it definitely is). It is very tiresome. The second negative is the fact that there is no night club on the premises. This place has everything except a night club and it sure could use one. I'm sure they would be busy every night if they had one. Oh, and they really should change the genre of the music they play in the lounge bar. I would say 90% of the clientele was between 20-40 and they were playing a lot of old music like Frank Sinatra or slow "put me to sleep" music. Other than those one or two negative points, the overall experience with Fiesta Americana was phenomenal. Especially since we did the all-inclusive package. We plan on returning next year.

Stayed 4days just last weekend. All the staff were very friendly and nice, bringing cocktails and snacks to you whenever all day long. Buffet and specialty restaurant food quality was good overall. We had a beautiful ocean view room, however bed was very uncomfortable and tiny ants crawling near vanity area was bothersome.

  • Great place

Even though our plane has just landed, and we've barley unpacked, I wanted to write a review of the Fiesta American while the details were still fresh in my mind. Our stay was excellent. However, it was not perfect. And it is the way that our issues were handled that truly demonstrates to me what an outstanding resort this is. When we arrived, there was some confusion about our room type. Without batting an eye, we were given a choice of the higher quality room, a top floor Jr. Suite. Unfortunately due to the fact that we landed on the night Hurricane Ernesto hit Belize, the wind and rain were blowing through the sliding door in our room, and creating pools on the floor. Realizing that there was no quick fix to our issue, the Manager Manuel personally came to check out the room, and then further upgraded us into a Master Suite. Unfortunately, the air conditioning wasn't 100% in this room, and there was no spare bed for our children. Within minutes, both problems were solved. Three times throughout our stay, guest service called to follow up and ensure that any and all problems were being solved to our satisfaction. Next came our self-imposed disaster--as we were playing on the beach, a wave swept our 6 yr old daughter's favorite 2 hot wheels into the ocean, never to be seen again. You can probably imagine the crying spell that ensued. One of the pool servers, Rayli, came up to her and comforted her, promising to do something special to make her day better. And that day at lunch, a special chocolate cake came out at the end of our meal on a plate that said, "Don't be sad Avery." The next day, Rayli found us by the pool with 2 brand new hot wheels for Avery. Unbelievable! The following day, another one of the staff members remembered us asking if this was the season in which Sea Turtles return to Cancun to lay their eggs. He told us that night they would be releasing baby sea turtles into the ocean, and invited us to participate. Talk about an experience your children will never forget--that night, we got to pick up the 2 month old hatchlings (about 3 inches long), place them on the beach, and watch them swim off into the surf. Throughout the trip, we experienced similar levels of hospitality throughout the resort. For starters, there was Maricarmen, who welcomed us and always gave us extremely helpful information about the resort and Cancun. The pool/activity staff, especially David and Margarita, always took extra time to make our children and us feel special (and when staff remembers your children's names, and your drink preference by day 2, you definitely feel that they are guest-focused). Our last meal, we stopped the manager of the El Mexicano restaurant (Alfredo) to compliment our server Ignacio, Rayli, and many of the other staff we had met. It lead to a nice conversation, and at the end of our meal, he personally made us a special dessert tableside. I could go on about how beautiful the pools were, the spaciousness and comfort of the rooms, the beauty of the beach, how speedy the service was at the pool and all the bars, the fact that wifi is free and actually works in the hotel rooms, and other things that you can probably get from the other reviews and the pictures. The resort is not perfect, it definitely has some signs of age (though they were CONSTANTLY cleaning and maintaining), and we have stayed at newer/fancier properties at which there is greater emphasis on producing 5-star food. However, as a person who has spent his entire career in the hospitality industry, I cannot express enough how much I appreciate the level of service at Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun. Never have I visited a property anywhere in the world where I felt that everyone with whom I came in contact was happy that I was there. Short story: if you're considering a family vacation to Cancun, I cannot recommend this resort highly enough.

  • Will probably go again in the future

My family and I liked this hotel. We ate the buffet most of the time. It was good most days. Plenty of choices on the buffet for our family of four. Room was just okay. It was clean but pretty much a standard room overlooking the pool with ocean in the distance - ocean front view supposedly. Wifi was barely available from our room and we were really close to the lobby. I imagine any further away and we'd be going to the lobby for internet. Beach was nice. Red flag was out the entire time of our stay but lifeguard was on duty and let us swim as long as we stayed in front of where he was watching. Staff was very friendly. Only had a couple of times when a staff member wasn't nice. Not mean, just not outgoing friendly. Whatever your needs they try to take care of. I speak very, very little spanish but my wife does and it sure did help having her around. Most staff speak english though. And they were constantly cleaning the whole place!! Don't get caught in the lobby when you arrive by your "personal" assistant. They'll try to schedule your entire stay for you. Just tell them you'll be back later if you need any help. Check the concierge in the front lobby for any excursions. The concierge (not your "personal assistant") was very helpful answering all sorts of questions for us. We booked a trip to Tulum and Xelha through the person at the concierge. I believe price was below the internet prices we saw advertised. I would NOT recommend Tulum during middle of summer, it was HOT! My only real complaint was the kids club and teen club. My kids are too old for the kids club but not quite ready for teen club either, if it were a real teen club that is. I looked in the kids club window walking by...a fairly small room with markers, crayons, that sort of stuff, maybe a few kid's toys and a tv. The staff member was watching the tv when I looked in and the 3 kids were drawing at the table. It's your basic kinder play room. The teen club, as far as I could tell, consisted of an xbox, a Wii, a ping pong table, and a room with a big screen with a movie sometimes playing. My kids did like the ping pong but we didn't leave them in there....they would've been bored in 2 minutes. Maybe they had activities for teens but I didn't check futher into it and I didn't see any. For picking up souveniers go out to main road, catch a bus that says "Market 28" on it. (Do not stop at "Flea Market" by mistake, it's across from some hotels and Market 28 is in town.) Will cost you about 70 cents each way on bus. Ask driver to tell you when you need to get off if you're not sure. Be sure to remember how to get back to pick up the bus. It'll take about 30 minutes one way. Taxi will cost about $11 or so but will take almost the same amount of time...at least in my experience it did. Once you get off bus, go straight to Market 28, by-passing all the guys on the way that say they are "way cheaper than at the market". Sorry El Cheapo Philipo, the hat you said I wouldn't find any cheaper than $20 was $5 across the street. Be ready to barter, either in pesos or USD. All in all, we had a great time in Cancun and the hotel was wonderful. A great place to stay and I recommend it.
