Although older, this property has retained all the charms of it's earlier glory days but has enough upgrades to make it an agreeable place to stay. The staff was phenomenal and made every effort to make us feel at home and catered to our needs. The rooms located in the bungalow area are charming and clean with private patio areas. What the room lacked in updates --dated bathroom decor/fixtures, bulky TV, and worn carpeting--was more than made up for by the resort feel and setting reminiscent of a bygone time. For the price it offers a pleasant alternative to high-end resorts at high-end prices and run-of-the-mill reputable chain type hotels.

If you are a bathroom person, you are NOT going to enjoy this hotel. The King Garden View Room was large and clean, However, it smelled damp. The bathroom was tiny and the shower experience made you miss your dull bath at home. The water never truly got hot, but I did like that there was a window in the bathroom. This is not the ideal romantic getaway for privacy. If you leave the curtains open, you are chancing being seen by random strollers, as we experienced when little children came running up to the sliding glass doors off our room. It had that cabin feel, minus the privacy and comfy bath. Again, if bathrooms are important to you, do not pick this hotel. The staff are friendly and did a wonderful job checking us in super early. The restaurant was pleasant. The food was good, however, when I pointed out the soggy tomatoes in my boyfriend's sandwich, the Server just gave a pitiful look and brought us the check. The parking was great, because you can park your car at the door of your room. I would give this hotel 2 stars because of the bathroom.

This hotel is cute. We loved the atmosphere. There were many activities available along the private beach. The pool and the tennis courts were great. It is walking distance to a cute carnival like amusement park. We had a great time walking around. The rooms are outdated, especially the bathroom, but we didn't mind because the balcony overlooking the water made up for it. We requested a late check out, and it was not a problem. We had a great time and would stay here again.

We booked this hotel during the off season, so the rooms were at a discounted price. We stayed in the Bay View Studio. The room was a good size, definitely enough for a few friends. The kitchen is actually equipped with utensils, pots, and pans, so if you're working on a budget and want to bring your own food, it's nice to have the things you need to cook with. The staff at the bar was very nice and always made sure our drinks were full. We went down to the beach on our last day, and wished we would've utilized that and the other surroundings a bit more. You don't get a whole bunch of glitz and glam in the rooms, but maybe I'm just used to nicer rooms, but it was okay for the amount of money that we paid. If I planned another impromptu trip to SD and the rooms were still on sale... I would stay there again.

Got to the Bahia right at the start of the worst winter in San Diego history, so every thing is tainted by that. Had a garden view room but there was no garden to view, so we moved to the marina view. No problem with that from the front desk. Had two problems with the room; a garbage disposal that didn't work, and a slow draining toilet. The maintenance people were there within 15 minutes both times and fixed the problem. Excellent service! A selling point for us was the riverboat taxi ride around the marina, did not know that is unavailable in the winter, only by special charter. Bummer. All in all, the hotel was a nice place to stay.
