    This hotel is very large and has a very nice lobby area. They have a starbucks, gift shop, lounge, restaurant and pizza hut inside the hotel. Don't get the breakfast buffet unless you want to spend 16.00 per person. They also automatically add in a 15% Gratiuty. The rooms have been recently updated and are very nice and modern (they also have flat screen TV's). The bathroom has nice tile and granite countertops. Our bathroom had a little mold around the tub seal, but nothing too major. The pool is very large and the hot tub is like a minuature pool. You do have to pay for parking which is 9.00/day and if you need to use the internet, you need to pay to use it in the business center. The thing I liked most was that is was located in a very nice area and it was still close to Universal Studios, City Place, Islands of Adventure and International Drive. (If you are thinking about booking a hotel on I-Drive, think twice. I-Drive is always backed up and most people have a hard time getting out of their hotel parking lot). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Doubletree and would recommend it to anyone.

    We loved the hotel, one of the best we have ever stayed in. Friendly staff, good food. Breakfast our first day was at the hotel, wonderful buffett, but pricy, was $16 per person, Pool and spa was wonderful for us and the kids. Shuttle service to universal theme park, and not bad if you want a taxi either, just cost us 6 with tip, the cost to hotel was $3.60 we had to tip the shuttle driver. There is a resturant at the corner it is buffey type, for $8 per person, there is also a walgreens on the corner if you need anything. We had veiw of the park could watch the fireworks from our room window, the room was really clean, clean bathroom, really nice, my kids liked the free cookies they got when we checked in. The park is just across the way,we got coupons for 10% to 15% off meals and drinks and shopping, lots of resturants at the city walk outside the Universal parks, across from the hotel and shopping. We had to pay 9 per day for parking but we never had to leave the parking until we left. Not far from the hotel is a mall and lots of souviner and outlet stores. The only thing that surprised us and could have been a problem, was we charged our extra charges like our parking and stuff on our bank card and they put a $100 hold on our card that they didn't tell us , we found out when we got home and checked our account. It would have been ok, if they had told us. Even knowing about the hold on funds, we would still stay at this hotel again, when we go to Unversal theme park again.

    We arrived early on Friday morning, were told could get non smoking room. That was okay and was in our room in approx 15 minutues! Warm cookies more than satisfiled our 7 year old grand daughter! Friendly staff, clean freshly painted room (could still smell the fumes!). Close enough to Universal to walk, if not late at night or raining! Bathroom toilet seat kept throwing us off, however!!!! Good water pressure and massage shower head.
    We would stay again.

    This hotel was part of our package so we didn't have much choice in where we stayed. Unfortunately we were not very impressed. The first room we went to smelled very musty and after taking our shoes off determined the carpeting in the entire room was actually damp. We changed rooms and had better luck with the floor but the room still smelled. The location is very good and the staff is helpful but the quality of rooms definitely needs to be stepped up.

    I stayed for 4 nights and housekeeping came to clean the room on time the first day. The second day I went to Universal at 7am and came back to the room at 5:30pm which hadn't been cleaned. I called the front desk and they "would send someone right up" and at 6:45pm someone from housekeeping came to see if I needed anything! I told them to forget it. The third day I went to Universal at 8am and returned at 6pm to my room that still wasn't cleaned. I called the front desk again and they sent someone "right up" which was an hour later. I once again told them to forget it. So for my visit I didn't get trash emptied or beds made. Extra or new towels were out of the question.
    Also, of the three elevators that took me to my floor, only one was working.
