Great hotel and location, we had a very rainy cold day, we could have used a thermostat that had a better setting than just warm.I guess you dont need it that often in San Diego. Other than that, great place. It is across the bay from a Navy Air base, so there were a few jets talking off at night, i loved it, the wife could have done

This 50's South-seas themed hotel is set in a beautiful location, across from the harbor and marina. The room was was nicely appointed and very clean. My room, however, was situated above the out-door concert venue and would have posed a grave problem had there been a scheduled event. I'll certainly check to see if there are any concert activities should I stay again. Also, you'll get your share of excercise as there was no elevator to the second floor landing. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The adjacent bar was good with good local entertainmen: uite laid back with a mixture of hotel guests and locals.

We loved our stay in San Diego for our 2nd anniversary. We had an easy check in and very friendly staff. Once we got our room we took a walk around the hotel and due to concert night it half was closed off, but it was exciting to know we didn't have to pay for a ticket and could hang in the pool area and hear the show perfectly. The pool was open but the weather was too cold for us to use. Humphrey's Restaurant had great reasonable breakfast. We never had a chance for dinner. Humphrey's back stage lounge was fun. The had a fun blues band we enjoyed, Our only complaint was our room was located on the main floor next to the cleaning staff storage room, Room 162, so the rooms have paper thin walls so we could hear everything, including 4am sprinkler system, cleaning staff in and out, rolling hideaway beds to storage room at 7am, our neighbors room next door, you could hear toilets flush and showers on. Walls are just very thin so if you are a light sleeper (which I am not) good luck. We were to lazy and unpacked to ask for a new location for a room so we dealt. The hotel location was great, 10-15 Min to the gas lamp district. Cab drive was $25 w/ tip. You can walk to several seafood restaurants on Shelter Island. Sea Work is a 15 min. drive. We had a great stay in the area. Rooms were nicely updated but noisy location. Wireless internet had a very weak signal in our room, they do have computers you can use and print. Also expect to pay $10 a day for parking.
