Location: Not as bad as other reviews have stated. But it is at the far end of the Strip. We were able to walk to the center of the strip without any problems. And used the Deuce (3 day pass) to get back to our hotel. However, I'm not sure I would try this during the the hot summer months. Staff/Room: The staff was friendly. We were allowed to check into our rooms early (no early check-in fee). Ordered a frig ($10 a day) at the check-in desk and it was in our room when we got upstairs. The room was in the North Tower, so it wasn't updated. But it was modern and comfortable. But there was few spots that could of been a tad cleaner. Hotel: The hotel itself appeared to be very clean. Yes, the casino area is very smoky. It's a casino what do you expect. I'm a non smoker, who hates the smell of smoke. But I got use to it. I liked the inexpensive souvenir shops and McDonald's located in the hotel. Also enjoyed going to the top of the Stratosphere. The view is beautiful (at night) and the rides looked like a lot of fun. Restaurants: With the exception of McDonald's, the only other restaurant we visited in the hotel was Roxy's. The food was pretty average, but the portions were hearty. The staff was friendly and the singer that night was great.

Positives - There was plenty to do at the Stratosphere. With the retail level on the 2nd floor, there are shops for souvenirs, and restaurants for more cost conscious travelers. I did not get to use the fitness facility, but it looked clean and had plenty of equipment. On Sunday's only, they offer a pro football headquarters in the theater. With 9 big screens, this was like heaven for an avid NFL fan. The level 8 pool was really nice compared to other pools. The casino was not as busy as other casinos in Vegas, but I found that to be more inviting. One of the casino bars had live bands playing all weekend and they were surprisingly good. The buffet was average to good to most people in my party; however, I thought it was excellent. The tower was amazing. Both the level 108 air bar and level 107 lounge offered amazing views of Vegas, especially at night. My group rode the tower thrill rides, which were fun, but expensive, more so if you do not stay at the stratosphere. My group also did the SkyJump. For thrill seekers this experience was amazing and I would recommend it to everyone. The Top of the World Restaurant is amazing, both the view and the food. It was also very expensive. The staff was very friendly and housekeeping was very attentive to my requests. Negative - The rooms were average quality unless you get a suit or newly remodeled room. Cleanliness was average as well. Spent quite a bit of money on cab fares to go to old Vegas as well as down the strip a few times. There are $8 all day bus passes available which are cost effective or you can walk the entire strip, which we did do a couple times (a few miles of walking, but fun).

I chose a room with a great view of the strip that also offered handicap facilities. I was very pleased with my choice. The room was clean and very large with twin beds. The shower was a walk-in type with a chair for handicap bathing.
