It's a bit distant from the center of the strip, about 2 miles. In the immediate surroundings there's evidence of neighborhood neglect- graffiti, trash, peddling. My wife was shortchanged at the phillystake sandwich shop accross from the hotel. The employee denied it and got agressive. Don't go there.

The Strat promotes value and service. Both statements couldn't be further from the truth. Upon arrival, you realize that you are miles from the heart of the strip. Everything is run down or shut down. The hotel requires an "amenities" charge at check and I am not quite sure what that is applied to. They charge for everything! The staff and rooms were about average, definately not the picture that is painted on the website! After realizing all of this, we decided to checkout the entertainment. The Bite show was pretty cheesy, and we waited over an hour to receive any service from the waitress. If you are planning a trip to Vegas in the future I would definately reccomend staying at one of the hotels in the middle of the strip. Yes you are going to pay an extra few hundred per person, but it is WELL worth it! I wish someone would have warned us!

01/03/2012We had a great time at stratosphere!! there's a mcdonalds & starbucks on site, so we didnt feel forced into high end restaurants for every meal...the tower entrance & gym ...
We had a great time at Stratosphere!! There's a McDonalds & Starbucks on site, so we didnt feel forced into high end restaurants for every meal...the tower entrance & gym was free for guests and the tables weren't stuffy...we played Craps drunk in our PJs the last night and left up :) Will definitely stay again.
