I got the reservation for what I would consider a steal for this hotel, especially so well located in Dallas. I was put in what I would call a suite - king bed, sitting area, desk, large bathroom. Strongest water pressure I've ever had anywhere, and I was on the 7th floor. Yes, a little silly to pay $20+ a night for a valet to park my car in the empty lot 15 feet away - maybe offer self-park during the slow part of the week? Library Bar was still just as classy as I remembered from 20 years ago.

Upon arrival for our two night stay we were told parking was valet only, $25 per day. Nobody helped drag our bags out of the trunk. No one took the car from out front - had to drive it around the block , find the entrance to the parking area out back, and wait for a valet to show up. The car was then parked in an unsecure area. No one showed us to the room. The party in the hotel bar Saturday night was loud and spilled out into the parking area out back. I watched a valet hand keys to a non-hotel-guest driver so innebriated he took out another cigarette and put it in his mouth with a lit one in his other hand. We were on the first floor and could not sleep until after 2:30 am due the crowd noise outside the window - we were only on the thrid floor over the entrance to valet parking. The police did come by at least once but things only quieted down momentarily, until just after they left. Our rental car and keys were "misplaced" when we left for teh day Saturday morning but were found after about 15 minutes. They were completly lost when we went to depart on Sunday. This is no small wonder given the scene at the valet desk out back Saturday night when we arrived at the hotel. Fortunately we had a spare key and after a lengthy search found the car unlocked and outside the valet parking area which was doubtless full when we came in the night before. This lengthy delay meant we barely made our flight after turning the rental in with an empty gas tank and lost key. We talked to the hotel managers on the phone later and they did promise to take the key, which they claim to have subsequently found, to the car rental company for us. During the entire stay, no hotel employee ever offered to help with our bags, a door, or anything else other than checking us in. The manager on duty came did come out to investigate the missing car Sunday, and after failing to find it, explained in front of more than dozen other guests that there was a payment problem and we would have to go inside to get our keys. This was after we had already paid in full and checked out. We were told to go wait through the 20 minute checkout line again. There was no key inside and no payment problem. Apparently this place has a very nice wine bar and throws some great parties. If you go, you should probably take a cab and not spend the night.
Been 2x in the past year. great hotel, one of my favorite in the us.

I've stayed at the Melrose before for business, but was unhappy with this experience: I was unaware of the in-room internet service charge, and the actual charge was higher ($11+) than the posted price ($10.95). Free service was available in the lobby, but there were no nearby outlets, so you can only use as long as your battery holds out. The outlet in the bathroom by the coffee pot was not working the first morning, so I had to move the pot & tray to the other room and do some rearranging to plug it in (this was fixed by evening). The pillows are a not-very giving foam and were at least 8 inches thick -- meaning they were way too filled for me to sleep on comfortably without a neckache. On the 2nd day I requested and received feather pillows. I was only able to use the advertised town car service once in 3 days there -- no driver showed up the 2nd day and was unavailable on the 3rd day. The amenities I anticipated to justify the cost of the hotel were not in the end worth it. Will look for other accommodations next trip.

Outstanding hotel as a business traveler or just visiting for the weekend. There is plenty to do in the hotel without ever leaving from the bar with professional entertainment in "the library", the gym, the outstanding restaurant or just relaxing in your spacious room. The staff is very attentive and makes you feel special from the moment you walk in. I call the Warwick Melrose Hotel Dallas my "home away from home".
