Three couples stayed there for a few nights during April while touring Madrid. We learned the subway and bus to get to the museums. At check-in were offered "concierge" service for an extra fee and took it. Includes breakfast and use of lounge with beverages and snacks. That turned out to be a good thing as breakfast upstairs was more peaceful than the busy dining room. There are lots of business meetings at this hotel, and soccer guests. We enjoyed the lounge to have a place to socialize after a day out. Computers were available, and newspapers. Our room was perfectly fine.

Stayed two nights in the end of May 2010 on a trip back to Europe. The hotel is top class in a great location. Very professional staff, very good service. The hotels restaurant El Jardin is a must, but there are also plenty of good restaurants within walking distance in case you want to go out for a meal. This is a top class hotel, expensive, but you get what you pay for. Will stay there again if I´m back in Madrid.

I think all Intercontinental properties are top-of-the-line and this one is no different. Although it is near a subway station it is located in what I would characterize as the financial district of Madrid. Beautiful buildings and located on a majestic avenue, but to see the tourist spots, you've got to take the subway. There is a nice quiet residential area just behind the hotel which has small restaurants and grocery stores for your convenience. One thing I would say is that they use a computerized mini-bar so that removal of any items from the room refrigerator, whether consumed or not adds a charge to your bill. We purchased some juices at the local grocery and removed the bottled water from the refrigerator overnight. But we didn't know that we would pay a couple of Euro for each removal and replacement. (I deliberately chose the water bottles because they wouldn't go bad sitting on the desk overnight). And although the desk clerk waived our additional (E600!) fee for the continuous removal and replacement of these items, I think a much clearer warning to guests regarding this system would be helpful on the front of the refrigerator. But otherwise this is a fantastic hotel, very high-end, luxurious, etc. Would definitely stay again.
