My boyfriend and I stayed at the Blake in mid July 2009 and had a great expirience there. Check-in was quick and easy, the room was a nice size and very clean, well kept, and comfortable. The continental breakfast was limited, but sufficient. The Hotel Blake is in walking distance to the Sear's Tower, Millennium Park, Grant Park, and The Art Institute. We got to all our other destinations by train or bus, both of which have several stops very near Hotel Blake. We reccommend that people visiting Chicago buy a 3 or 7 day unlimited bus and train pass at the CVS store right by the Blake. It's much cheaper than paying the fare every time or taking a taxi. Overall we had an fabulous time at The Hotel Blake and would definitly stay there again and reccommend it to friends and family.

The Blake is on Chicago's Printers Row. The Tribune's ""Lit Fest"" was scheduled for the same weekend as our visit, which was a lot of fun and did not disrupt our stay at all. The hotel staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and there are nearby restaurants and attractions.

Okay place to stay & great location. However, the streets were loud and the vents in the rooms were noisy. The breakfast was supposed to end at 10 am. I went down to get breakfast at 9:45 am and they only thing they had left were oranges and decaf coffee. Our hotel room view was a brick wall. Some handles on the drawers were missing/broken. There was mildew in the bathroom ceiling. The fitness room had broken machines. Also, our cards kept reseting, so we could not get in our room when we wanted to. Overall I have stayed better places downtown Chicago for the same price.

  • Great for the price!

My teen son & I came for Easter Weekend. I was happy with this hotel and the great deal I got with my package. All the staff I dealt with were extremely friendly, the room was clean, the bathroom huge & the beds comfy. I did not care for the pillows (way to soft) but we had plenty of them. There was no alarm clock in our room. No vending machine in the hotel for water or pop. I had no problem with noise and we were on the 2nd floor. It's a city, you will hear some street traffic the closer you are to the streets but it wasn't anything unusual or unbearable. Yes the elevators are a little slow. The breakfast was less than I expected-some donuts, bagels, apples, oranges, bananas, but I'm not much of a breakfast eater and it was always pretty busy. The sandwich & pizza places as well as Starbucks are right outside the hotel for a convenient meal & dunken donuts is 1 block over. There was always a taxi or two out front whenever we left the hotel. This felt like a very safe neighborhood. Short cab rides to the aquarium, Field Museum. Sears Tower is within walking distance as well as other restaurants. If you're looking for good shopping, take a cab. All in all I would recommend this hotel unless the cost is unimportant. It was a nice place and a decent location.
